Jericho Rosales has earned a nomination at the NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) 2022 for his performance in the short film Basurero.
Jericho shared his latest career milestone on Instagram today, April 8, 2022, where he posted an outtake from Basurero, a drama directed by Eileen Cabiling.
He wrote, “Our short film BASURERO gets nominated for BEST INTERNATIONAL DRAMA and kulot gets a BEST ACTOR nomination at the NFMLA 2022 in Los Angeles! List of nominees and jurors on Variety article up in my bio!
“This little jeepney made it to Hollywood! Cheers team!”
According to Variety, NFMLA “is a nonprofit organization that supports emerging filmmakers and artists through a monthly series of screenings and events in Los Angeles.”
Jericho is competing against nine finalists in the Performance, Drama category.
The other nominees are Ari Damasco (In France Michelle is a Man’s Name); Ayinde Howell (Augustus); Dior Wilson (Yellow Girl and Me); Kazem Hashem Zadeh (Elders); Marcelia Cartaxo (Pacarrete); Nora El Koussour (Nervosa); Reise Alexander (Juliet); Richard Walters (An Uninvited Guest); and Shakira Barrera (Huella).
Basurero is one of the 10 nominees in the International drama category.
Basurero features Jericho as a poor fisherman who dumps bodies of murdered drug war victims into the sea to earn money to feed his family.
Basurero had its world premiere at the 24th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea in 2019, and was also screened in the online edition of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival in 2020.
Jericho is currently based in New York with his wife Kim Jones, where he is currently taking acting workshops.
