Kris Aquino has agreed to portray a mistress on the big screen.
The ABS-CBN actress said she was initially hesitant but she was convinced by Feng Shui director Chito Roño to accept the role.
"I really had hesitancy doing it kasi the title is Etiquette For Mistresses, yung book ni Julie Yap Daza," she admitted during the March 17 episode of her morning show Kris TV.
Direk Chito has bought the right to do the movie adaptation of Etiquette For Mistresses And What Wives Can Learn From Them, a book written by Jullie Yap Daza and released in 1992.
In order for her to accept the role of a mistress, Kris gave one condition for her character:
"Sabi ko, 'Oh no, Direk, isa lang ang request ko. Can I not be happy?
"Kasi ito ang life na pinili niya. There are certain sacrifices that were involved also and it's a life choice.
"Ayoko na may iba na magiging happy, may mapapakasalan.
"Ako, can I end up alone?"
She explained, "Kasi Direk, di ba, ang audience ko mga misis, ayaw ko naman na ma-feel nila na na-reward yung 'number two' [referring to the mistress]."
Kris recalled Direk Chito telling her, "'O sige, pag-uusapan natin 'yan. Pero naiintindihan kita where you're coming from.'"
In 2014, Gretchen previously announced that she also received an offer from Direk Chito to play a mistress in the adaptation of the book Etiquette for Mistresses.
However, this plan did not push through.
