Ang Deleter na pinagbidahan ni Nadine Lustre at mula sa direksyon ni Mikhail Red ang top-grosser sa 48th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) noong December 2022.
Pagkatapos ng tagumpay ng Deleter, muling magsasama sina Nadine at Red sa Nokturno, ang unang proyekto ng Evolve Studios, ang bagong subsidiary ng Viva Communications Inc. (VCI).
Si Red ang Chief Creative Officer ng Evolve Studios at si Val del Rosario ang Senior Vice President ng Content Creation and Development ng VCI. Pareho silang kabahagi sa box-office success ng Deleter.
Nang humarap sina Red at Del Rosario sa mga miyembro ng entertainment media, ikinuwento nila ang pagsisimula ng kanilang partnership kaya naisakatuparan ang Evolve Studios.
"What attracted me to the whole partnership with Viva is they really give importance sa voice ng filmmaker, director. And may creative freedom," ang pahayag ni Red.
"I feel like ito yung best platform for me to continue making the films I want and making sustainable cinema. It’s really exciting to be working with them.
"For our maiden project, it’s very interesting. This was a project we actually pitched along with Deleter and it’s a film about, for me, more than a ghost or a demon.
"It’s a very scary, more primal, parang entity... a curse on the Filipino family and a daughter who lives overseas.
"It’s a bigger film than Deleter and it’s something that I’m really excited about.
Paliwanag pa ni Red: "Right now, the working title is Nokturno and we’re proud to announce that Nadine Lustre is on board again after the success of Deleter.
"I really appreciate yung appetite niya for challenging roles and genre films. Kakaibang films yung mga gusto niya.
"I feel like it’s the perfect project to start this partnership so expect exciting and imaginative ideas.
"We wanna really push it when it comes to genre."
ON MIKHAIL RED BEING THE CREATIVE HEAD OF EVOLVE STUDIOS
Dream come true para kay Red ang partnership nila ng VCI.
"We just wanna make movies , we want to entertain, engage, and we’re just in love with this medium.
"For us, we’re very thankful for this privilege, for this opportunity."
Inilahad naman ni Del Rosario ang mga dahilan kaya inalok ng VCI si Red na makipagsanib-puwersa sa VCI.
Bukod sa Deleter, nakita ni Del Rosario ang kakayahan ng direktor na magkuwento sa pamamagitan ng pelikula.
"More than the concept, more than the idea of Deleter, yung belief and trust kay Direk Mik, sa kanyang vision, yung talent that he has, and yung kuwento na gusto niyang ikuwento, dun kami naniwala.
"Sa capacity niya to tell the story that he wanted to tell," paliwanag ni Del Rosario.
Lubos pa rin ang saya ni Del Rosario sa mainit na pagtanggap sa Deleter.
"We knew na malalakas din yung mga kalaban so we didn’t expect to be number one.
"But we’re very grateful and happy that we became number one sa MMFF," ang sabi ni Del Rosario.
Ibinahagi pa ni Del Rosario ang payo na nakuha niya mula sa amang si Boss Vic del Rosario, ang founder at CEO ng VCI.
"For this collaboration, ang best advice that I can pick up from what Dad has given me, maybe is always be passionate in looking for projects to create, to do, and keep on working with people you will share the same passion [with]."
TRIVIA ON EVOLVE STUDIOS LOGO
Tao na naging mukha ng isang Beagle dog ang logo ng Evolve Studios at may paliwanag si Red tungkol sa kahulugan ng kanyang ideya.
"Very personal yung logo. May face ng Beagle. Meron akong pet Beagle dati na namatay so parang I just wanted to pay tribute to my pet.
"But I like the idea na yung animation parang [the logo] starts with a person, a man, and then naging dog.
"Gusto ko lang yung concept of species, hybrid. I think, yun ang cure, hybrid films, man-dog.
"If you look at it, parang two images in one, a man and a dog, hybrid films."
