John Lloyd Cruz and Piolo Pascual to star in Lav Diaz film


Box-Office Kings John Lloyd Cruz and Piolo Pascual will work soon work together in a Lav Diaz film.

Paul Soriano shared a black-and-white photo wherein Piolo is seen lying down on a rattan hammock while John Lloyd is seated beside him.

The producer also shared a photo of himself with Piolo, JLC and Lav Diaz with the following caption: "TEN17P is currently producing and shooting a Lav Diaz film. This film brings together 2 of the country's biggest actors, Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz."

Aside from Paul Soriano, the film will be produced by Star Cinema, the film production arm of ABS-CBN.

According to PEP contributor Mell Navarro, the movie has the working title Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis.

cenes of the movie will be shot in Lake Bulusan, Sorsogon.

The movie is described as follows: "It is a sorrowful mystery that marries Literature (the missing chapters of El Filibusterismo), Mythology (tikbalangs), and History (Oryang's 30-day search for the lost body of Andres Bonifacio)."

He also disclosed that the film will also star Alessandra de Rossi, Sid Lucero, Cherie Gil, Angel Aquino, Bernardo Bernardo, Ronnie Lazaro, Nonie Buencamino, Ely Buendia, and Hazel Orencio, among others.

Lav Diaz, one of the most lauded Filipino filmmakers abroad, is known for making use of slow cinema, a genre of filmmaking that emphasizes long takes.

His latest opus was the five-and-a-half-hour film Mula sa Kung Ano ang Noon that tackled the period before Martial Law was enforced in the Philippines.

It earned the grand prize Pardo d€™oro (Golden Leopard) at the 67th Locarno International Film Festival.

In 2014, Lav was also a recipient of the Netherland's Prince Claus Award, which is given to those whose body of work contribute to the development of their countries€™ cultures.

His four-hour film Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan competed in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival
