Piolo, Dennis tied for Best Actor; Bea wins Best Actress in 32nd Star Awards for Movies




Piolo Pascual of Silong and Dennis Trillo of Felix Manalo tied for the Best Actor award in the 32nd Star Awards for Movies. Bea Alonzo, who was not present at the awarding ceremony, earned the Best Actress award for A Second Chance.

The winners were announced last night, March 5, at Resorts World Manila.

Nino Muhlach made a shocking announcement that Amalia Fuentes could not personally receive the Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award because she had a mild stroke. Nino was accompanied onstage by his son Alonzo Muhlach.out

Alonzo told his dad onstage, "Kaya ikaw, daddy, mag-diet ka na para di ka ma-mild stroke," eliciting laughter from the crowd. Nino responded by covering the mouth of Alonzo while he continued with the acceptance speech on behalf of Amalia.

The nominees in the Movie Actor of the Year were John Arcilla (Heneral Luna), John Lloyd Cruz (Honor Thy Father), JM De Guzman (Tandem), Richard Gomez (The Love Affair), Daniel Padilla (Crazy Beautiful You), and Jericho Rosales (Walang Forever).

In the Movie Actress of the Year category, Bea was able to beat fellow nominees Nora Aunor (Taklub), Iza Calzado (Etiquette For Mistresses), Sarah Geronimo (The Break-Up Playlist), Rhian Ramos (Silong), LJ Reyes (Anino Sa Likod Ng Buwan), Meryll Soriano (Honor Thy Father), and Dawn Zulueta (The Love Affair).

Alessandra de Rossi emerged as the Best Supporting Actress for Kid Kulafu while Tirso Cruz III is hailed as Best Supporting Actor for Honor Thy Father.

Love team partners Janella Salvador and Marlo Mortel personally received the trophies for New Movie Actress and New Movie Actor, respectively, for the horror movie Haunted Mansion. 

Bela Padilla was recognized as the Female Face of the Night while John Arcilla was chosen as the Male Face of the Night.




A segment of the program was dedicated to the late German "Kuya Germs" Moreno. Martin Nievera performed a song number in his honor while John Nite received the award given posthumously.

The biopic Felix Manalo emerged as the Movie of the Year while Bambanti was chosen as the Indie Movie of the Year.

Dennis played the title character Felix Manalo while Alessandra is the lead star in Bambanti.

Serving as the hosts this evening were Kim Chiu and Xian Lim, Alex Gonzaga, Robi Domingo, and Bela Padilla.
