MMFF 2016 Execom to implement major change: entries to be chosen from among finished movies

Instead of accepting screenplays, the new MMFF Execom will choose among finished movies as entries for MMFF 2016.



Matapos ang kontrobersiya na pinagdaanan ng Metro Manila Film Festival, may mga pagbabago nang magaganap sa 42nd edition ng naturang film fest.

Naganap ngayong umaga sa Metro Manila Development Authority office sa Makati City ang pagpupulong ng mga miyembro ng bagong Executive Committee ng 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Ang mga pagbabago sa rules and regulations ng annual Metro Manila Film Festival ang isa sa mga napag-usapan sa April 11 meeting na ito.

Tiniyak ni Quezon City District V House Representative Alfred Vargas na magkakaroon ng big reform sa MMFF 2016 na mahigpit na ipatutupad ng mga miyembro ng MMFF Execom.

Ang MMDA Chairman na si Emerson Carlos ang nagsilbing head ng new MMFF Execom na kinabibilangan rin nina veteran film producer Jesse Ejercito, actress and MOWELFUND Executive Director Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo at iba pa.

Si Alfred ang kumakatawan sa Kongreso at ayon sa kanya, unanimous decision sa meeting kanina na finished product at hindi na script ng pelikula ang kailangan na i-submit ng mga movie producers na nagnanais na sumali o magkaroon ng official entry sa MMFF 2016.

Idinagdag ni Alfred na ilalabas ng New MMFF Executive Committee sa mga susunod na araw ang mga bagong alituntunin tungkol sa pagsali sa MMFF.

1. Emerson Carlos (MMDA Chairman, spearheads the annual festival)
2. Jesse Ejercito (veteran producer; retained from the original MMFF Execom)
3. Briccio Santos (Film Development Council of the Philippines)
4. Senator Sonny Angara
5. Alfred Vargas (actor, QC congressman)
6. Atty. Eugenio “Toto” Villareal (Movie and Television Review and Classification Board Chairman)
7. Moira Lang (independent scriptwriter-producer)
8. Wilson Tieng (Movie Producers Distributors Association of the Philippines)
9. Marcus Ng (Metro Manila Theaters Association)
10. Boots Anson-Roa (Movie Workers Welfare Foundation; retained from the original MMFF Execom)
11. Edward Cabagnot (academe)
12. Edgar Tejerero (SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc.)
13. Joel Pagdilao (Philippine National Police)
14. Jun Romana (Bureau of Broadcast Services)
