LJ Reyes-Luis Alandy daring film, Anino Sa Likod Ng Buwan, will be screened starting July 20

Director Jun Lana confirms Anino Sa Likod Ng Buwan will be released in select cinemas this July 20: "We finally got confirmation for a July 20 playdate in GATEWAY CINEMA here in Metro Manila and GAISANO cinemas in Davao, Toril, Tagum and Digos!" This tension-filled political thriller stars (L-R) Luis Alandy, LJ Reyes, and Anthony Falcon.

After a long wait, more Filipinos will get to watch the internationally-acclaimed film Anino Sa Likod Ng Buwan (international title: Shadow Behind The Moon).

This daring film became famous for its 10-minute sex scene between lead stars LJ Reyes and Luis Alandy.

It is confirmed to be released this July 20 in Gateway Cinema, Festival Mall, Robinsons Galleria, and Gaisano Malls in Davao.

Set in Marag Valley during the 1990s, Anino Sa Likod Ng Buwan is an intellectually stimulating and sexually charged political thriller that revolves around a couple named Emma (LJ Reyes) and Nardo (Anthony Falcon) and a soldier named Joel (Luis Alandy).

The film directed by Jun Robles Lana premiered in the Philippines in October 2015 at the QCinema Film Festival.

Anino sa Likod ng Buwan has also been part of international film festivals including Czech Republic's Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in July 2015, Germany's Hamburg Film Festival in October 2015, and Poland's Five Flavours Film Festival.

Last July 14, the film's producer Perci Intalan announced on his Facebook account that they have been negotiating for the film to be screened in select cinemas. The former TV5 executive called for support as they finalized negotiations with the said theaters.

He wrote: "There is a chance Jun Robles Lana's award-winning ANINO SA LIKOD NG BUWAN (Shadow Behind the Moon) will finally be shown in select cinemas! I really hope it happens! To all those who have seen our film at the CCP and in UP, please help us spread the word! #‎HelpGetANINOinCinemas #‎SupportPhilippineCinema #‎stoppiracy"

Perci also appealed to the public to stop online film piracy. He wrote: "And please stop supporting and sharing links to pirated copies of Filipino films online. It is causing problems for filmmakers who are struggling to even get our films in theaters. #‎stoppiracy#‎SupportPhilippineCinema #‎HelpGetANINOinCinemas"


Direk Jun later confirmed on his Instagram account the the film will be released in select theaters. Direk Jun wrote: "Good news! After the long struggle to get ANINO SA LIKOD NG BUWAN in cinemas and dealing with the issue of online piracy that threatened the release of our film, we finally got confirmation for a July 20 playdate in GATEWAY CINEMA here in Metro Manila and GAISANO cinemas in Davao, Toril, Tagum and Digos! In an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the UP Film Institute, Direk Jun revealed his plans to develop the film's script for a theater production later this year.

He said, "Plano ko talaga yun, siguro around last quarter of this year gagawin ko yung stage adaptation. Gusto kong gamitin pa rin yung dalawang lalaki, si Anthony and si Luis, and then, yung role siguro ng babae ipapa-audition ko."

Anino Sa Likod Ng Buwan earned several international awards including Direk Jun's Best Director win during the 20th International Film Festival of Kerala in India last December 2015 and at the 13th Pacific Meridian Film Festival in Russia in September 2015.

LJ Reyes also won the Best Actress award at the 13th Pacific Meridian Film Festival. She recently took home the Best Actress trophy at the PMPC Star Awards for Movies 2016 last March.
