How To Be Yours, topbilled by ex-sweethearts Bea Alonzo and Gerald Anderson, earned P10 million during its July 27 opening day.
This was revealed by Star Cinema through its official Instagram account.
How To Be Yours tells the story of lovers Anj (Bea) and Nino (Gerald) who encountered problems in their relationship after Anj started achieving her dreams as a chef. She eventually lost time for her boyfriend who sacrificed his job in order to support her.
During the bloggers' conference held for Bea and Gerald earlier today, July 28, they said that they are happy with the outcome of their project, especially when it comes to box-office sales and reviews.
However, both Bea and Gerald revealed that they were initially nervous about the outcome of the movie.
Gerald admitted, "Honestly, siyempre kinabahan ako. Noong premiere night medyo hindi ako makausap. First time nangyari sa akin sa career ko na medyo, oh my God, kinabahan talaga ako.
"But di ba, God is good, and when you work hard for something, ibibigay niya sa 'yo yun
"Pinaghirapan namin lahat 'yan, ginawa namin yung best kahit medyo pagod at puyat kami, alam namin na maganda yung produkto namin.
"Siyempre, after ng shooting, after ng dubbing, after ng promotion, yung tao na magde-decide kung maganda yung produkto mo and I guess they decided it was good."
The 27-year-old actor even added, "Na-experience ko yung kumita yung movie ko pero di masyadong maganda yung reviews.
"Na-experience ko rin yung sobrang ganda ng reviews ng movie ko pero di rin kumita. Ito yung both nangyari sa akin together so it’s amazing. Sobrang grateful."
For Bea, she also said that she felt jitters during the July 26 premiere night.
She related, "To tell you honestly, noong premiere night, hindi rin ako makahinga.
"Kinakabahan ako kasi this project is really special to me so I really wanted everybody to see its beauty just like how I saw it.
"Right now, nakahinga na kasi nagustuhan nila. Kinikilig kasi ang daming nagkagusto. Nagpe-pray pa rin na mas maraming makapanood."
Directed by Dan Villegas, the movie is graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
After How To Be Yours, Star Cinema is expected to release the Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla movie titled Barcelona: A Love Untold.
Iits first teaser can be seen in cinemas before the screening of the Bea-Gerald movie. But no final playdate has been announced yet for the KathNiel movie that was shot in Spain.
