Erik Matti still wants Angel Locsin to portray Darna.

He is the director of the movie to be produced by Star Cinema and Reality Entertainment.

Will the iconic superheroine finally be seen on the big screen this 2017?

“We’re working on it. Pinapaganda namin para magandang-maganda. We’re still working on pre-producing it,” said Direk Erik during the press conference for his latest project, OTJ: The Series.

Will Angel Locsin be the one to bring life to the Pinoy komiks character created by Mars Ravelo?

“I really hope it’s still Angel that’s gonna end up as Darna. But we still have

to make an announcement. I still have to hear from ABS-CBN.”

It will be recalled that in October 2015, it was announced that Angel developed a disc bulge in her spine, which is why she can no longer star in Darna.

However, the ABS-CBN actress recently said that her health condition now is much better.

In a previous interview with Direk Erik, he confirmed to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that they are planning to make a series of Darna movies, which is why choosing the lead star of Darna is very crucial.

"There is a script that we need to look at. There's also the franchise that we're looking at--not just one film but we're looking at several. "It's a decision that needs to be talked about in general."

What are the qualities that he is looking for in the actress who will portray Darna?

"A tough woman. Somebody who is Filipina. Somebody who can pass off as an ordinary woman but could turn into somebody really, really stunning. Personality wise, there has to be a fierceness to her but something really, really strong charm and humanity to her."
