Janella Salvador (right frame) regrets missing the chance to be part of the MMFF 2016 entry Vince and Kath and James. However she is happy for Julia Barretto who got her supposed role. Vince and Kath and James is part of the 42nd Metro Manila Film Festival while Janella's movie Mano Po 7: Chinoy did not make it to the final list of entries.

Janella Salvador admits she was saddened upon learning that her movie Mano Po 7: Chinoy didn't make it to the 8 official entries of the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival.

She admitted to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during the November 22 grand media launch of Mano Po, "Ako siyempre, di na kami magla-lie, nalungkot kaming lahat because we were all prepped up.

"We did everything, we did our best for it to be part of MMFF.

"But I just thought to myself na lang na at least, nakabuo kami ng isang movie and no doubt, it's a beautiful movie.

"I believe, everyone will enjoy it kasi maraming matutunan sa movie na ito so as long as the movie's nice, I hope people will watch it."

Since the film did not make it to the the 42nd edition of MMFF, Regal Films decided to show Mano Po 7 on December 14.

Aside from Janella, this family movie also stars Richard Yap, Jean Garcia, Jessy Mendiola, Jake Cuenca, Marlo Mortel, and Enchong Dee.

As seen in the trailer, Janella did several dramatic scenes for her role as Caroline.

"Actually, first drama film ko ito," said Janella.

"Sana, I did well kasi medyo hirap ako. But Direk [Ian Lorenos] was really nice and he taught me everything and confident naman ako."

VINCE & KATH & JAMES. Last August, Janella confirmed to PEP that she was supposed to be the lead actress in Vince & Kath & James, which is based on the online love story Vince and Kath.

However, she had to prioritize doing Mano Po 7 because of her contracts with Regal Films (the producer of Mano Po) and Star Cinema (the producer of Vince & Kath & James).

The role eventually went to Julia Barretto and the said film, which is directed by Theodore Boborol, made it to entries of MMFF 2016.

PEP asked Janella if she feels any regret about missing the chance to be part of an official MMFF entry.

She admitted, "Yeah. May panghihinayang."

However, the 18-year-old singer-actress said she is happy for her friend Julia who got the part.

She continued, "Pero more than that, I'm really happy for Julia kasi it's really meant for her.

"I really hope she does shine in this film kasi she deserves this one."

Aside from Julia, Vince & Kath & James also stars Joshua Garcia and Ronnie Alonte.
