Vice Ganda and Coco Martin's movie The Super Parental Guardians earned P68 million on its opening day, November 30, 2016.

Vice Ganda and Coco Martin's movie The Super Parental Guardians earned P75 million on opening day, November 30, 2016.

This was revealed by producer Star Cinema through its Instagram account earlier today, December 1.

Star Cinema also described the movie's box-office feat as a "record-breaking first day gross."

It remains unclear, however, if The Super Parental Guardians surpassed the first day gross of Vice Ganda's 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Beauty and the Bestie, since the Metro Manila Film Fest Executive Committee did not release the official first-day box-office gross of the entries last year.

Will this new Vice Ganda-Coco Martin movie surpass the box-office earnings of Beauty and the Bestie, which reached P526 million?

Last year, Beauty and the Bestie had no competition with Hollywood films since only locally produced movies were shown in cinemas.

The Super Parental Guardians also features child stars Simon "Onyok" Pineda and Awra Briguela.

It can be recalled that this movie directed by Joyce Bernal was submitted for consideration to the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival, but it did not make it to the final list of entries.
