GMA-7 actress Ai-Ai delas Alas bagged the top acting award at the 2017 ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA).
The 52-year-old Kapuso star was named Best Actress at the film festival's gala night on Saturday, May 6, at the Kuching Amphitheatre in Sarawak, Malaysia.
Ai-Ai won the award for her performance as an aging prostitute in the film Area directed by Louie Ignacio.
The Area actress wasn't able to attend the gala night of the film festival so she posted her acceptance speech on her Instagram account.
Ai-Ai expressed her gratitude towards the film festival jurors for recognizing her talent, as well as the whole cast and crew of the film.
She wrote, "MARAMing maraming salamat po panginoon sa blessing na ito.. wlang hanggang PASASALAMAT SA INYO aming HARI AT PANGINOON ... (mama mary i love you thank you sa lahat ng bulong mo kay LORD)
"Thank you ASEAN INTERNATIONAL AWARDS FOR THIS AWARD.. no words can express my happiness and being so grateful for this prestigious award...
"Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagdasal para sa akin.. ibinabahagi ko ang award na ito sa aming direktor loui ignacio ang BG PRODUCTIONS FERDIE, DENNIS AT SA LAHAT NG BUMUBUO AT CAST NA KASAMA KO SA AREA..."
The Kapuso actress went on to dedicate the award to her family and all other mothers just like her.
"Para sa aking mga anak na inspirasyon ko (SANCHO VITO, SHAUN NICOLO, SOPHIA ANDREA, SETH ANDREI) at sa aking future husband (GERALD) para din sa inyo ito .. malapit na ang mothers day ..

AIFFA 2017. According to the film festival's website, over 100 films were submitted for the third edition of the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards.
Aside from Ai-Ai, five other Filipino talents were also recognized during the awarding, including Louie Ignacio who bagged the Best Director award for Area.
The Philippines also swept the acting categories, bagging three out of four major awards except the Best Actor trophy.
Actress Ana Capri won Best Supporting Actress for Laut while Ricky Davao was hailed Best Supporting Actor for the film Dayang Asu.
The Best Actor trophy went to Vietnamese actor Pham Hong Huoc for the movie The Way Station.
In addition, 2015 Sinag Maynila finalist Imbisibol, directed by Lawrence Fajardo, won the award for Best Movie Editing.
Lav Diaz also received a Special Honour Award for his film Ang Babaeng Humayo.
