Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona don't mind that they were not the first choice to topbill Star Cinema's suspense-thriller movie Bloody Crayons.
Their roles in the movie were originally intended for Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia.
Another major change done for this project was the chosen director. Topel Lee is now the director but during its first announcement in 2015, Quark Henares was supposed to helm the project.
It was revealed that the ElNella love team, along with the other teen stars, were already the third batch considered for the project until filming finally pushed through.
Elmo said during the June 27 presscon, "Ako, I'm just really happy kasi nakasama ako dito sa project na ito. This is my first movie under Star Cinema.
"To get to know the whole cast, to get to know the whole production and staff ng Bloody Crayons, I'm very happy na naging addition ako and happy to say na final yung pagkakainclude ko sa movie.
"So masaya ako na kahit na third round akong nasali dito sa movie, at least naman may nacontribute ako.
"Yun naman talaga gusto ko gawin bilang isang artista, makapag contribute ng magandang project. Masaya ako na nakasama sa final addition."
For her part, Janella is also happy that the film will finally be shown on July 12, two years after it was first conceptualized.
She remarked, "I'm just really happy kasi two years in the making 'tong movie na ito, e. And we weren't there from the very start.
"And I'm glad na noong pinasok kami, it's final and everyone's hardwork's finally gonna pay off.
Also included in the cast are Sofia Andres, Diego Loyzaga, Maris Racal, Jane Oineza, Yves Flores, Empoy Marquez, and Ronnie Alonte.
Among the final cast members, only Jane, Maris, and Yves were retained from the original lineup.
REASON BEHIND CHANGES. Apparently, Julia and Joshua were also not the original choices for the film.
This was clarified by Star Cinema AdProm manager Mico del Rosario during the press conference.
In published reports about the movie, Iñigo Pascual, Khalil Ramos, Manolo Pedrosa, Ylona Garcia, and Bailey May were also considered to be part of Bloody Crayons.
Mico explained about the changes, "Marami nang nangyari. As everyone knew, marami nang pinagdaanan yung project na changes, si Direk din also took over the project.
"Nagkaroon ng changes sa management direction kung how will they do this project."
Creative producer John Paul Abellera pointed out that scheduling problems also had an impact on the lineup.
He narrated, "We will not deny naman po na there were some other actors involved sana in the movie. But then of course, we have to remember that Star Cinema is also part of ABS-CBN, and nagkaroon ng scheduling problems.
"Pag kailangan ang artista for a different show, a different movie, binibigay din naman ng Star Cinema yung actors na yun.
"In the meantime po na nag aayos kasi kami ng material, ang dami naming inayos kasi sobrang demanding po talaga sa amin dahil po it's the first suspense [movie of Star Cinema] in a long, long time.
"We want to make sure to give the right material for the right cast with the right director.
"So lahat po talaga ng pinupuna nilang comments, sasagutin po natin, lahat ng butas na nakita po nila, inaayos po namin to make sure na pag natuloy na yung project, magandang maganda na siya and we're happy with the final product that we have."
Mico added that management is happy with the final outcome of the project.
"I-share ko lang, when we had our interlock a couple of weeks ago, ito yung team ng Star Cinema na hindi part ng creative and production team ng project.
"Nakakatawa kasi naiyak si JP [John Paul] at Marj Lachica, yung producer, kasi after talaga, walang biro, nagpalakpakan yung management.
"Parang doon nag-fall into place lahat na this is the cast best assembled, Direk Topel and his magic, ito yung right combination for Bloody Crayons."
