Sharon Cuneta is very excited that her upcoming movie with Star Cinema is finally pushing through.
Now with a new leading man, she is scheduled to start shooting this September.
The Megastar disclosed, "I'm doing it September. I prayed for it. I prayed for the movie that did not push through. If it's not meant to be, I prayed to You.
"He probably did not want it to push through and then this one did so this is probably what he wanted for me and it's probably a good thing. I take it like that. So I take it positively."
The 51-year-old actress-singer said she is more excited with this new movie than the previous one.
In the previous project, she was supposed to be paired with ex-husband Gabby Concepcion.
She admitted, "I'm actually more excited about it with my coming movie with Star. We changed the script, of course it's a new leading man.
"I wish I could tell you who but I'd rather wait for Star to say. I'm very excited and I know a lot of people will be, too.
"I'm really… no malice, no offense to anyone but I'm probably more excited about this coming project than I was when it was supposed to be the other one."
When asked for small hints, Sharon simply said, "Kilalang kilala ko. Actually, madaming matutuwa. Very big fanbase. Very very big, huge."
Is she still willing to work with Gabby in the future?
Frankly, she answered, "Oh yeah, as long as ano.. I'm not… I was not the one, I did not cause the cancellation, let's just put it that way.
"Maybe his schedule, I don't know. I'd rather not investigate further, baka mahurt ako, huwag na lang!"
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) spoke to Sharon during the press conference of Cinemalaya 2017 held on July 13 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
The postponement of their movie was formally announced last April 6, 2017.
CINEMALAYA MOVIE. Before Sharon starts her Star Cinema movie, Sharon will return to the big screen via her Cinemalaya entry Ang Pamilyang Hindi Lumuluha, directed by Mes De Guzman.
This serves as her first movie after seven years. Her last film was the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Mano Po 6: A Mother's Love.
Sharon said with a smile, "Wonderful! After seven years, I was so excited, parang binuhos ko na lahat, I didn't care tungkol sa itsura ko, kung ano bang itsura ko, I had no inhibitions at all.
"Pagdating doon sa mga dramatic na scenes, lahat na, binuhos ko na lahat. Parang wala lang, parang naglalaro lang kami.
"I've never seen me like this on screen, no one never has. And actually, now that I'm talking about that, now that I get to think about it, I'm scared!"
Doing an independent film, the Megastar said, allowed her to experiment and play around.
She explained, "Ang maganda, pag narinig mong indie, you have the license to play around.
"It's not like mainstream na there's a certain… ang hirap mag-sugal kapag mainstream kasi ang laki ng puhunan, ang laki ng pwedeng mawala.
"Kapag ganito, it's just really love and passion for the craft. I have such respect for these filmmakers that I am now an artista of them.
"I love people who love film because I love making films. I respect them and I'm very proud to be part of the indie group now, I want to make more!"
The coach of The Voice Teens added that her character Cora is different from roles she did in the past.
She pointed out, "Hindi ko masabing loka-loka dahil naaawa rin ako sa kanya, pero very different from any character that I portrayed, very different from any character.
"Desperate siya to get her family back together. Yung 'pamilyang hindi lumuluha' kasi, para silang legend sa town na kaya hindi lumuluha, hindi sila makaluha kahit patakan mo ng sibuyas sa mata.
"May legend na ganun and they were a real family. Tapos isang araw, nawala sila tapos ang daming minalas na hindi na umaani ng sibuyas sa amin.
"Ako naman, nawala yung asawa ko, nambabae. Tapos yung mga anak ko, may kanya-kanyang buhay na, yung wala nang pakialam sa 'yo. So parang mag-isa ako, kasama ko na lang si Moi Bien na katulong ko. So parang anong nangyari sa buhay ko?
"So I focused on sibuyas business. So sa desperation ko, gumawa ako ng paraan.
"Iba-iba yung demands sa emotions, ups and downs, roller coaster with many moves!"
Ang Pamilyang Hindi Lumuluha is one of the nine full-length entries of the 2017 edition of Cinemalaya.
The films will be screened from August 4 to 13, 2017.
