Derek Ramsay is expected to replace Jericho Rosales in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2017 entry Almost Is Not Enough.

An August 4 article by columnist Mario Bautista published in Journal Online reported that Jericho has already dropped out of the MMFF 2017 entry.

The movie would have been Jericho and Jennylyn's reunion movie after the 2016 MMFF entry Walang Forever, which was awarded as the Best Picture in that year.

According to the report titled "Jericho drops Jennylyn, Derek to the rescue," Echo backed out of the movie because he is doing a movie with director Paul Soriano.

Currently, Jericho is shooting a movie with Erich Gonzales and Jasmine Curtis-Smith.

Aside from that, the report also said that the actor will soon start shooting another film that will be entered in the Sundance Filmfest in the U.S. in January.

For his part, Derek revealed in a YES! Magazine interview last July that he will soon reunite with Jennylyn, who was his leading lady in the MMFF 2015 smash hit English Only, Please.

This also marks Derek's reunion with English, Only Please director Dan Villegas and producer Atty. Joji Alonso.

He said, "It’s romantic drama, with Jen. I liked the script. It’s with Direk Dan Villegas. Reunion but it’s different kasi hindi comedy. Drama. Sabi ko, yes."

Derek mentioned that the film is an entry for MMFF 2017.

"Actually, I was in the phone with Attorney Joji, to do a movie with Jen. No, hindi siya English Only, Please. Pero pang MMFF.

"I like the script. She’s like, 'You have to fix your schedule.'"

In the interview with YES!, Derek pointed out that he still has to prioritize his upcoming movie with Star Cinema.

For this still-untitled movie, the 40-year-old actor will be reunite with Magkaribal leading lady Bea Alonzo and No Other Woman director Ruel S. Bayani.

Derek stressed, "Since nakabitaw na ako ng salita sa Star Cinema, that’s my priority.

"Nakakatuwa that I’ll get to work with him [Direk Ruel] again, and Bea. I’ve worked with her so many times in the past. So, I’m looking forward to working with Bea again."

Meanwhile, the Journal Online report indicated that Derek and Jennylyn have already started shooting for the upcoming MMFF 2017 entry.
