Pinangunahan ni Aga Muhlach, Edgar Allan Guzman, at Sid Lucero ang Nominees Night ng The 2nd Eddys noong June 3 sa Valencia Events Place, Quezon City.
Parehong nominado sa pagka-Best Actor sina Aga para sa Seven Sundays at Edgar para sa Deadma Walking.
Si Sid naman ay nominado bilang Best Supporting Actor para sa pelikulang Smaller and Smaller Circles.
Ang The Eddys ay ang award-giving body na pinamumunuan ng SPEED o ang Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors.
Dumating din sa Nominees Night ng The 2018 Eddys si Liza Diño, ang chairperson ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) na nagsisilbing partner ng SPEED para sa nasabing awards night.
Kasamang dumating ni Liza ang asawa niyang si Aiza Seguerra.
Namataan din ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa venue ang Best Actress nominee na si Mary Joy Apostol para sa Birdshot, at Best Supporting Actor nominees na sina Arnold Reyes for Birdshot at Dido dela Paz para sa Respeto.
Nag-alay naman ng musical production number ang mga singers na sina Katrina Velarde at Dessa.
Gaganapin ang awards night ng The 2018 Eddys sa The Theatre at Solaire sa July 9, 2018.
Magkakaroon ng three special awards sa 2nd Eddys for Movies: ang Joe Quirino Award na ibibigay sa late movie reviewer at professor Mario Hernando (Posthumous Award), ang Manny Pichel Award na ibibigay sa entertainment editor and columnist Ricky Lo, at Producer of the Year na mapupunta kay Vic del Rosario Jr. ng Viva Films.
May special tribute na ibibigay para kay Hernando, at ang mga yumao sa industriya tulad nina directors Maryo J. delos Reyes, Soxy Topacio, Maning Borlaza, Argel Joseph, actress Isabel Granada, at actor Bernardo Bernardo.
Ayon sa SPEEd, ito ang layunin ng The Eddys: "to encourage local filmmakers, producers, writers, and actors to continue pursuing their passion of creating films that mirror the realities of our society."
