MMFF 2018 final four entries revealed

The highly-anticipated Magic 8 for the 44th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is finally complete.

This was announced during a press conference with the MMFF 2018 Executive Committee (Execom) members held today, October 9, at Club Filipino Greenhills.

The first four official entries, which were based on script submissions, were announced by MMFF officials last June 29.

These are: Aurora; Fantastica: The Princess, The Prince, and the Perya; Girl In The Orange Dress; and Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles.

This year's Selection Committee is headed by National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera with members Jesse Ejercito, Evylene Advincula, Roy Iglesias, Maria Anicia Naval, Mel Chionglo, James Bartolome, Lualhati Bautista, Cesar Ona Jr., Irene Jose, Lilibeth Nakpil, and Consoliza Laguardia.

Here are the final four entries for the 44th edition of MMFF as selected from finished films:

1. Rainbow’s Sunset (family drama)

From Likhang Silangan Entertainment: 

Starring: Eddie Garcia, Tony Mabesa, Gloria Romero, Sunshine Dizon


2. One Great Love (romance)

From Regal Entertainment 

Starring: Kim Chiu, Dennis Trillo, JC de Vera, Miles Ocampo, Marlo Mortel 

3. Mary, Marry Me (rom-com)

From Ten 17P Films

Starring: Toni Gonzaga, Alex Gonzaga, Sam Milby 

4. Otlum (horror) 

From Horseshoe Studios

Starring: Ricci Rivero, Buboy Villar, Jerome Ponce, John Estrada 

The awards night of MMFF 2018 will take place on December 27 at The Theatre Solaire in Paranaque.

On June 30, 2018, a day after the announcement of the first four MMFF entries, published the titles of the 23 scripts submitted to MMFF 2018, which was provided by a source.
