What happens when science and faith collide? This is the premise of the upcoming movie Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak, which is scheduled to open by Black Saturday, April 23.

Fourteen years ago, Vic starred in the Star Cinema film Biyudo Si Daddy, Biyudo Si Mommy (1997), which was co-produced by Vic’s M-Zet Productions. This time, the two companies once again collaborate for this romantic comedy directed by Tony Reyes.

According to Star Ad prom director Roxy Liguigan, Vic Sotto has always been open to doing a movie with Star Cinema. This deal finally pushed through this 2011 despite changes in the original lineup. Toni Gonzaga was supposed to play the leading lady of Vic but she became busy hosting ABS-CBN’s noontime variety show Happy Yipee Yehey. Bea was then personally chosen by Vic to become his leading lady in the movie.

Vic is known for starring in top-grossing films, especially those produced during the Metro Manila Film Festival while Bea was crowned as Box-Office Queen for the 2007 movie One More Chance.

Director Tony Reyes praised the Kapamilya stars for their work attitude while doing this movie. "Alam niyo po masaya akong nakatrabaho sina Bea, Pokwang, Zaijian at si Xyriel na pare-parehong mga professional at handa parati sa set."

He also commended Bea for doing her best to elicit laughter from viewers. "Nagulat ako nung pinapanood ko sa pag-take na may chemistry si Bossing at saka si Bea! Proud pati ako kay Bea kasi she’s willing to do things out of her comfort zone, kaya kakaibang katatawanan ito!"

The film also stars child wonder Zaijian Jaranilla as an angel who is tasked to convert Vic’s character while Xyriel Manabat is cast as the niece of Bea’s character. Kapamilya comedienne Pokwang will get the chance to trade jokes with Kapuso comedians Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola as the sidekicks of Vic’s character.

Completing the cast are Paolo Ballesteros, Joonie Gamboa, Jon Avila, Victor Basa, Johnny Revilla, Dexter Doria, and Paw Diaz with the special participation of Peque Gallaga, Anjo Yllana, Ms. Bella Flores and Joey de Leon.

SYNOPSIS. Written by Sherwin Buenvenida, Baroy Morga, Johnny Delos Santos and Lawrence Nicodemus, Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak’s story is not the usual comedy filled with slapstick stunts and noisy characters. It revolves around an angel Angelito (Zaijian) who was exiled from heaven and assigned to convince Angelo (Vic Sotto), a "fake" healer, to become a better man. When the angel and the earthling meet, Angelo discovers that this kid has miraculous powers. So he decides to use Angelito in his "fake" healing racket.

Along the way, Angelito discovers an intern doctor Cielo (Bea) who harbors anger towards Angelo because she is against his "faith" healing business. When Angelito tries to work out a reconciliation between them, his attachment to Angelo and Cielo grows. Now this angel gets confused whether to stay on earth or return to Heaven.

Full of twists and turns and heavy with laughter all the way, Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak will open on April 23 in over 100 theaters nationwide.
