Eugene Domingo (right) was escorted by Wendell Ramos (left) during the red-carpet screening of Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi. Director Joey Reyes (middle) can be seen behind the two stars of the movie.

Director Joey Reyes says that his curiosity about weddings and annulments inspired him to come up with the plot of the movie Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi.

He recalled in a previous interview, "Nagre-research ako noon tungkol sa annulment kasi may friend kami na may planong magpa-annul.

Direk Joey’s past movies have dealt with the dynamics of married couples, as in Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo (2006) and its sequel, Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo (2007).

He explained his fascination for this topic by saying, "I love human relationships. I love showing the quirks of Pinoys sa iba’t ibang social rituals nila like kasalan, anniversary, at gustong-gusto kong ipakita ang karakter ng Pilipino. Nagkakataon na pag-ibig at pagmamahalan ang aking laging pinagbabagsakan."

Eugene Domingo was chosen to represent the woman who wants to have her marriage annulled while Toni Gonzaga is cast as the woman who wants to have a dream wedding with her beloved.

In this film, Eugene is paired with Wendell Ramos while Toni is paired with Zanjoe Marudo.

The actress naughtily described her scenes with Wendell as "very hot, very sexy."

She said that she and Wendell are already familiar with each other after working in projects like GMA-7’s Jejemom.

"Magkasama na kami sa TV," says Eugene of her leading man Wendell. "Kabisado namin yung kilos, yung reaksyon, yung ibibigay namin. Very comfortable kami with each other." Kaya natural, may hotness."

ANG BABAE SA SEPTIC TANK. Last July, Eugene was seen in the Cinemalaya entry Ang Babae sa Septic Tank, which was named Best Picture in the New Breed category of the said film festival.

This satiric film has been invited to five international film festivals: Vancouver, Pusan in South Korea, Hawaii, Tokyo, and Udine in Italy.

The movie, which also starred JM de Guzman, Kean Cipriano and Cai Cortez, was directed by first-time filmmaker Marlon Rivera and written by Chris Martinez.

According to information from the producers, Ang Babae sa Septic Tank raked in a total of P38.4 million during its run in Metro Manila and select provinces.

The lead actress will go to Canada in time for the Vancouver International Film Festival that will run from October 1-6, 2011.

"May invitation Ang Babae sa Septic Tank sa Vancouver International Film Festival," says Eugene. "We really hope Marlon Rivera wins an award. Yung film mismo sana [manalo ng] audience choice. Officially invited naman ako, Direk Marlon, si Chris Martinez. Pupunta kami to support Marlon Rivera. It’s actually for the filmmaker. Pag-festival talaga, it’s the filmmaker. I’m just taking advantage of that. Tapos, magsa-side trip ako for my annual vacation."

She revealed that she plans to go to New York.

"For me and Chris Martinez, gusto naming manood ng Broadway musicals. We are trying to prepare for something."

Would she like to venture into producing or directing someday?

The actress admitted, "Oo naman. But not in the near future. Gusto ko munang mag-artista talaga. Ibang career ang pag-pro-produce at pagpinag-usapan na ’yan, nakakalito na ’yan.

When it comes to directing, she said, "Puwede, I am open to that. But again, that is another serious commitment. Di mo mapagsasabayan ’yan."

MY HOUSEHUSBAND. Before Eugene leaves the country, she will shoot scenes for the Metro Manila Film Fest entry, My Househusband.

Direk Joey, who will also helm this project, clarifies that the movie is not about a man who is henpecked by his wife.

The veteran director explained, "Hindi ito tungkol sa lalaking ’under the saya.’ Ito ay tungkol sa lalaking napilitan, dala ng mga pagkakataon, na maging isang maybahay. Siya ang naglalagi sa bahay at ang asawa niya ang nagtatrabaho."

Eugene says of her role in My Househusband, "I am going to play the neighbor of Ryan Agoncillo’s character tapos magiging close kami. Nag-shooting na ako with him. This time makakasama ko siya sa pelikula. I really, really like his company. It’s a never-ending talk show. We talk about everything. Doon lang namin na-discover na marami kaming mga istilo, mga stroke sa buhay, sa career namin parehas."

Eugene also happily pointed out that she and Ryan have something in common: they are both freelancers who can accept projects in all TV networks.

"Na-realize ko lang na pareho kaming nagko-cross over. I think Ryan Agoncillo is one of my closest male friends. Jive na jive! Ngayon lang ako nagkaroon ng role na ang best friend ko lalaki."

For a change, Eugene will not have a comic role in the 13th installment of Shake Rattle and Roll. She points out that the "Lunod" segment, which will be directed by Chris Martinez, "It’s not comedy. Nakakatanggal ng peace of mind. Ito ang pinaka-nakakatakot na puwedeng mangyari sa mga Pilipino at sa lahat ng tao."
