Jovit Baldivino launches third album after break-up with girlfriend; his first album already reached Triple Platinum status

Jovit Baldivino releases his third album, OPM's Greatest Volume One.

Coming off the success of his first album, Faithfully, which has made it to triple platinum, Jovit Baldivino is now releasing his third album titled OPM’s Greatest: Volume One.

With carrier single “Tell Me,” Jovit's new album contains some of the well-loved OPM songs of this generation including “Forevermore,” “Say You’ll Never Go,” and “Foerver’s Not Enough.”

At the press launch of his album last June 27 at Elbuono Pizza, corner Scout Rallos and Tomas Morato, Quezon City, the Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) Season 1 Grand Winner admits that he feels the pressure.

“Sana po, ganun din, kagaya nung first and second album ko, sana maging platinum din,” he said.

Jovit said it was Star Records Head Jonathan Manalo who chose most of the songs. But upon seeing the list, he need not say more. He was quite satisfied with the song line-up.

The 18-year old rock singer said that he gave his own twist to the ballad songs.

COMPETITION WITH MARCELITO POMOY? Since they both won in the same reality show, there are those comparing Jovit with PGT Season 2 Grand Winner Marcelito Pomoy.

But Jovit denies there is competition between the two of them.

Parang ang sarap makatrabaho,” he said humbly.

Having a similar market, the two grand winners are often given projects together.

In fact, they recently went to the States for the ASAP Pinoy Champs U.S. tour together with Yeng Constantino and Angeline Quinto.

Given the chance, Jovit said he would he was willing to do a collaboration with Marcelito.

ALL-ORIGNAL ALBUM. His past albums have all been revivals. Is there a possibility of an all-original album in the near future?

Marcelito explains that for now, they are trying to promote Original Pilipino Music. But if the opportunity comes, he would gladly take it.

INSPIRATION. When members of the press asked Jovit if he dedicates any of the songs in the album to any particular person, he answered broadly:

“Sa ngayon po, halos lahat naman po dinidedicate ko sa kanila eh…sa lahat po,” he said, referring to all his followers.

At one point, he revealed that he and his girlfriend of two years have broken-up recently.

Being single as of the moment, Jovit says he currently draws inspiration from his family.

The lad from Batangas shares, he has been taking steps to improve his family’s life.

He would also want to go back to school.

Before getting into showbiz, Jovit said he had wanted to study Mechanical Engineering. But now, he wants to take up Law.

What made him think of going back to his studies?

Jovit demonstrates how practical he is:
