6cyclemind band releases "Fiesta," its second album for 2007

6cylemind shot the cover of their abum Fiesta (shown above) during the Kadayawan Festival in Davao. The band released its 18-track album under Sony BMG.

Fresh from the success of their cover album Home, 6cyclemind unveils a new album for 2007 titled Fiesta.

6cyclemind is composed of Ney Dimaculangan, vocals; Chuck Isidro and Rye Sarmiento (guitars); Bob Cañamo, bass; Tutti Caringal, drums; and songwriter-manager Darwin Hernandez.

The band thought of the title for the album when they were on their nationwide tour for Tanduay Rhum, which they are endorsing.

"Everytime na mag-gi-gig kami sa iba-ibang lugar dito sa Pilipinas, parang yung feel ng crowd eh parang fiesta yung dating. Sabi namin, why not gawin natin ng album yung experience natin sa tour sa Tanduay," Tutti said.

Ney added that the Kadayawan Festival in Davao is their favorite fiesta among all those that they attended. "Actually doon kami nag-album shoot for the cover."

Fiesta contains 18 tracks and the lead single of the album is "Magsasaya."

The band added some unique stuff for the album. Track number one, "Lola Ipay," for instance, has Darwin's grandmother reciting a poem.

6cyclemind also included lead singer Ney's dogs howling to a tune in the album. "Kasama din dito si Maricruz at si Fonzi. Aso ko sila," Ney recounts with a smile. "Kasi, nung ginagawa namin yung recording, ang ingay nila. Sinasabayan nila yung recording namin. Tapos pinakinggan namin, nasa tono. Kumakanta talaga. So, we decided isama na lang natin sila. Sa Track 11, may sarili silang kanta."

Another notable song is "Aaminin," a rock ballad about looking for lost love. The band also added a reggae ditty titled "Pwede." Other tracks worth listening to are "Alagaan Mo Siya," "Kwentong Barbero," "Gusto na Kita," and the album cover title "Fiesta."

Fiesta is now available in record stores nationwide. Fans of the band should not miss out on the album—the first 5,000 copies are collector's items. The limited Deluxe Edition contains the audio CD and a bonus DVD that contains behind-the-scenes video of the album recording, the making of the "Magsasaya" music video, and clips during the band's Tanduay Rhum on the Rock nationwide tour.

Catch the album launch of Fiesta on Friday, October 19, 7 p.m. at the Eastwood Central Plaza. For more information about 6cyclemind, log on to http://www.sonybmg.com.ph/
