Sarah Geronimo nominated as Best Southeast Asia Act in MTV Europe

Sarah Geronimo on her first composition titled “Make Me Yours”: “Ito po ‘yong parang prayer ko talaga ko kay Lord. Ayun, it took me parang courage para makasulat ako ng ganun at para mai-release siya sa album, maging part siya ng album.”

Sarah Geronimo is nominated at the 2013 MTV Europe Music Awards for the Best Southeast Asia Act category.

The Filipina singer is competing against other artists from Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore. The MTV Europe awarding ceremony will take place on November 11 in Amsterdam.

Aside from Sarah, the other nominated artists are Hafiz (Malaysia), Noah (Indonesia), Olivia Ong Singapore), Slot Machine (Thailand), and My Tam (Vietnam).

In the official website of MTV Europe, the 24-year-old singer-actress is described as follows: "Sarah Geronimo is hailed as the Philippines' Popstar Princess. For a decade now, she has achieved multi-platinum albums, record-breaking concerts, blockbuster movies, high-rating shows and countless endorsements."

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the MTV Europe Music Awards, which is dubbed as "the international music event of the year."

This year's nominees for Best Female Artists are Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Taylor Swift. In the Male Artist category, the nominees are Bruno Mars, Eminem, Jay Z, Justin Bieber, and Justin Timberlake.

NEW ALBUM. Meanwhile, in the local front, Sarah has released her 10th studio album titled Expressions. In her description in the MTV Europe Music Awards, it was mentioned that Sarah "makes another breakthrough with her new album Expressions, featuring a song she herself wrote titled 'Make Me Yours.'"

The Popstar Princess was able to share her prayer through her song “Make Me Yours.” The particular song in the 11-track album is actually a new achievement for Sarah because it is her first music composition.

“Pero ang sarap din ng pakiramdam that I was able to share it with other people,” said Sarah in an interview after the press launch of her new endorsement, the mobile messaging application Kakao Talk, held last night, September 16.

The 25-year-old singer said it has been her dream to write her own song.

With additional encouragement from her talent agency, Sarah started the new challenge in her musical career.

Expressions album marks Sarah’s 10th anniversary in show business. The Popstar Princess will celebrate the event in a concert dubbed as Perfect 10 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on November 15.

PLANS TO STUDY. Apart from songwriting, Sarah also revealed during the interview her intention to continue her studies.

The Voice coach was telling the media about her sister, who is currently studying in Paris, when asked about her personal plan of going back to school.

“Ay naku, baka umiyak ako. Gusto ko. Gustung-gusto ko,” said teary-eyed Sarah.

If given the opportunity, Sarah already has two options in mind—either take a course that will help her further develop her skill in singing or take something that is totally different from her craft.

“At the same time, gusto ko rin pong mag-aral ng hindi in-line with music, ‘yong may fall back ako kumbaga.”

Like other youth, Sarah knows the importance of education.

Also, she is fully aware that, “Siyempre, hindi naman po forever itong career natin in show business.”
