Moira Dela Torre has been chosen to give her unique take on the beloved song “Reflection” from Disney’s Mulan.

Moira Dela Torre has been chosen by Disney Philippines to sing Mulan's iconic theme song "Reflection" for local release.

Disney described Moira as "a warrior in her own right and a true voice of her generation."

Deemed as the most streamed Filipina artist, Moira collaborated with Disney Philippines for a localized version of the film’s popular song, “Reflection.”

The Mulan live-action film starring Chinese-American actress-singer-model Liu Yifei is a remake of the hit 1998 animation movie. It revolves around a young woman who disguises herself as a man to save her ailing father from serving in the Imperial Army of China.

When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. She risks everything out of love for her family and her country to become one of the greatest warriors China has ever known.

"Binigyan ako ng platform na ganito kalaki, entabladong ganito kalaki para malaman niyo na walang impossible. That just because your past is broken doesn't mean your future has to be," said the Filipina singer about this great honor.

Disney will release Moira's version of "Reflection" on March 20, 2020.

The song was originally performed by Lea Salonga in the 1998 animated movie Mulan. Its studio version was recorded by Christina Aguilera in that same year.

Lea also served as the singing voice of Mulan in Mulan 2, which was released in 2005.

A netizen created a photo that superimposed the face of Moira onto the body of Mulan star Liu Yifei. The Twitter user used the hashtag #MoilanPH as the caption for her creation.

This is the very definition of a full circle moment.???? When I was a young girl, the first song I ever got to sing on my own in front of an audience was “Reflection” from Disney’s Mulan. And now, almost 18 years later, I get to sing it in front of the world. I can't even begin to describe how honored I feel to have been chosen to sing my own rendition of “Reflection”, not just because it’s one of the most beloved Disney songs, but because of how meaningful it has been in my life as an artist. The song talks about doubting yourself; about the weak knees that come when you don't feel capable of doing something great– something I find very relatable for a lot of us. Throughout this once-in-a-lifetime experience of lending my voice to “Reflection”, I have faced self-doubt and [so much] fear, thinking I wouldn’t be able to measure up. The thought of having to fill such big shoes was very scary to me until I realized that I was chosen so I could pave my own path. Loyal. Brave. True. These are 3 virtues that continue to guide me as I go through this journey. I strive to stay loyal to the fans who love this song and to my own fans who have loved me in every season. I strive to be brave, making sure that my fears know it can give me weak knees but will never have power over me. And lastly, I strive to remain true to who I am, my style, my voice and most importantly, my story. I hope my journey encourages you today-- that no dream is ever really forgotten, that God is faithful and that you are stronger and braver than you think ? I can’t wait for all of you to hear the song and to watch the music video, both of which will be coming out very, very soon. ???? Catch Disney’s Mulan, in cinemas March 25. #MulanPH ♥?
