The five-member Filipino boy group SB19 has been climbing the Billboard Social 50 chart for several consecutive weeks.
Billboard Social 50 is a weekly "ranking of the most active artists on the world's leading social networking sites."
On the 17th week of its continuous climb, the Pinoy-pop (P-Pop) group composed of Ken, Josh, Sejun, Justin, and Stell landed on the 5th spot of Billboard Social 50, making them the first Southeast Asian act to get on the chart's top 5.
The boys are just a few spots behind South Korean group BTS, which holds the top position for record-breaking 175 weeks.
JYP Entertainment's seven-member idol group GOT7 landed the second spot after the release of their latest "Not By The Moon."
Italian music icon Andrea Bocellii made his debut on the charts, placing third, while SM Entertainment's boy group NCT127 made it to the fourth spot.
Other acts on top 10 include South Korean idol groups NCT Dream, EXO, TXT, ATEEZ, and Indonesia artist Fiersa Besari.
Aside from the Social 50 chart, SB19 also made it to the 25th spot of Billboard's Emerging Artist chart.
It's also part of the BIllboard's Social 50 and Emerging Artist charts despite not having a full album yet. So far, they have three singles titled "Tilaluha," "Go Up," and "Alab (Burning)."
With SB19 entering the top 10 of Billboard's Social 50 chart, they could not believe to see their name on the same chart alongside those of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande, among many other famous international acts.
On March 12, 2020, Josh said during the press conference for the concert with Dunkin' Donuts, "Yung mabilang po sa Billboard charts, grabe po.
For his part, Stell expressed his gratitude to their fans called A'TIN for making this possible.
Parang sinasabi po nila yung mabubuting bagay about us kaya sobrang di po kami makapaniwala.
The plan of SB19 to release a new music video and full album has been postponed because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The group's first major concert at the Araneta Coliseum that was scheduled on March 19, has also been reset, as well as their regional shows in Iloilo, Pampanga, and Zamboanga.
