RIGOROUS TRAINING

P-Pop fans and members of the press learned more about the boys during the question-and-answer segments of their debut showcase.

BGYO started training in 2018 through Star Hunt Academy (SHA), ABS-CBN's venture into the idol industry. They were previously known as SHA Boys.

On December 2020, the group officially signed a management contract with Star Magic, the talent management art of ABS-CBN, which is now under Laurenti Dyogi.

Dun po nag-start yung training namin as a group.

"Pero before po, marami pa po kami. Parang delikado pa po lahat kaya lahat sobrang focused. 'Tapos ayun, eventually, sa pag tagal po ng panahon, lima na lang po kami."

During their two years of training, the boys were taught vocal and dance techniques by Filipino and South Korean coaches for more than a total of 24 hours a week.

According to Gelo, they took in the pressure, the challenges, and the tiresome routine keeping their goal in mind.

He said, "Natural lang kasi na mapagod pero kami, may goal kami na gusto namin mapasaya yung mga supporters namin."

The exercises were twice difficult for Mikki who had a lot of catching up to do, being the last to join the group.

The 18-year-old performer said, "Sila po kasi matagal na po sila nagte-training and after a few months, sumali na ako, but I didn't know how to sing and dance.

"So kailangan ko po talaga mag-extra work and humingi po ng extra classes from my coaches para matuto po ako ng basics ng dancing.

"They all know how to dance well so kailangan ko po talaga humabol."

Asked what major lesson they learned during their training period, Gelo spoke for the group, "Siguro sa tagal naming magkakasama, siguro natutunan namin is discipline, which is ini-strive namin hanggang ngayon.

"Kasi may mga times na unmotivated tayo and walang nakatingin pero yung discipline yung magpapa-push sa atin para maging excelent tayo araw-araw."

MORE ABOUT BGYO

The press asked what song they would pick to serenade their fans, Akira answered, "Panalangin" by the Apo Hiking Society.

He explained, "Kasi yun yung kinakanta namin sa Kumu... And kapag kinakanta namin yun talagang nararamdaman namin yung kanta.

"And kapag kinakanta namin sa kanila, talagang kinikilig sila so yun yung gusto kong ipanghaharana sa kanila."

The members, all single and seemingly unattached, were also asked about their celebrity crushes.

Mikki came out as a big fan of BlackPink, "I've been a follower of BlackPink, and I really like Jennie."

JL admitted crushing on Kathryn Bernardo, "Hindi lang dahil sa looks kundi dahil sa personality niya rin and sa galing niya umarte talaga."

Is there a chance they would fall in love with a fan?

Akira said, "Falling in love with a fan, puwede? Yung love kasi para siyang hunter, parang bigla na lang siyang susulpot sa iyo nang hindi mo alam.

"Malay natin in the near future, hindi naman natin malalaman di ba? Love is love."

Nate added, "If I were to fall in love with a fan, I'll leave it to fate."

Gelo said, "Siyempre, matagal naman na akong napamahal sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa akin pero, why not?

"Love is love naman and wala naman pinipili ang mahal mo."

Mikki affirmed, "I have the same answer, we don't know what will happen in the future and maybe there's a possibility na I'll fal in love with a fan talaga. You'll never know."

"Kusa yun dumadating so tignan natin soon."
