Kyla, one of Philippine music's most recognizable R&B voices has been nominated in three categories of the 2015 MYX Music Awards.
These are Favorite Mellow Video and Favorite Song for "Dito Na Lang" as well as Favorite Female Artist. This was announced via livestream at the special event held in K-Pub, Trinoma on Chinese New Year.
Nominations were opened that same evening. Kyla—who is on her second nomination for Favorite Female Artist—admitted "exciting pa rin manominate and the thought na ma-recognize," is honor enough.
Her song, "Dito Na Lang," first gained popularity back in 2014 as the second single from her album Journey.
Kyla says of this nomination, "it's always a privilege, I always feel honored na manominate dito."

How is this any different from her other MYX Music Awards experiences?
Kyla shares, "iba yung feeling, this time mas mababata na yung ibang nominees, parang feeling ko magpabata rin ako." She confesses to a feeling of kabado, "Oo, e, it still boils down to how many pepple know your song and will vote for your song."
She jokes that this year, she'll actively campaign for her nominations. Kyla seems more confident of herself than ever. We ask the R&B Princess if this has anthing to do with her recent cross-over into the Kapamilya fold or part of her reinvention.
She smiles mysteriously, "hindi naman, more on masarap makatrabaho yung mga ganoon kasi nakakahawa, may energy, nagpapa-inspire..."
Did Kyla time her move and guesting to coincide with ASAP's 20th anniversary?
Kyla tells us, "actually hindi ko inexpect na agad-agad 'no, parang after two weeks, feeling ko kasi medyo mas matagal pa, pero mas lalo akong na-excite, kasi uy, ang bilis ah..."
What made her decide to make the switch? Kyla briefly answers, "siguro para ano na lang din, to explore lang din, expand your horizon."
She admits though she had doubts about moving, "medyo matagal kong pinag-isipan kasi, mahirap din naman yun, e. Kumbaga, kumportable na ako doon. Kumbaga alam na alam ko na yung galaw at kilos ng mga tao doon. Mahirap din iwan tapos papasok ka sa isang lugar na hindi mo memoryado, at saka, hindi mo alam kung ano yung future, ano, siyempre, oo, hindi rin naman madali para sa akin na magpaalam."
She says that 2015 is her 15th year in the industry and that her management, "Cornerstone is actually planning something for me, marami silang niluluto for me, so abangan na lang 'yan kasi 15th year ko na."
Even though she comes into ABS-CBN with 15 years of experience, Kyla is not averse to 'starting again,' and she explains why, "parang ganoon siempre, bagong katrabaho, bagong environment, bago lahat, bagong studio."
She admits that as an artist, she does have certain expectations with her move, "well, nanonood kasi ako ng mga shows especially ASAP, bigayan ng best, so siempre kailangang magbigay ka ng best, so bigayan talaga!"
When Kyla appears on ASAP this Sunday, she'll go head-to-head with the show she formerly appeared in on GMA-7: Sunday All Stars. Does she feel any pressure?
"Siyempre may kasamang pressure kasi siyempre pag parang bagong mga katrabaho ulit, tapos, wala pa kaming masyadong... hindi pa kami nagbobond, may mga ganoon factors. Hindi ko rin alam kung paano sila pagnakaka-duet ko sila," states the R&B crooner.
She confesses that entering a new family has mixed emotions for her, "sobra-sobrang excitement at saka sobra-sobrang kaba din."
She also wants to encourage the netizens who are commenting that now that she has transferred, 'na lalamunin na ng ASAP ang SAS,' to not fan those kinds of flames, "huwag na lang ganoon. Ano na lang, i-wish natin ang best sa parehong show, let's wish them both the best. Lahat sila, pareho sa show, lahat yun mga kaibigan so siyempre, I wish them the best."
Since she'll start to regularly appear and guest on ASAP, Kyla shares her wishlist for a duet partner, "honestly, siguro si Sarah [Geronimo]. Kasi I see her performances, she also does mga R&B sometimes tapos feeling ko mahahawa ako sa kanyang passion kasi like when she performs, talagang may dance-dance, yung mga ganoon art!"
When Kyla was with GMA-7, acting wasn't something she frequently participated in. Now, she is excited with the possibilities in ABS-CBN.
"Naku siguro, ang gusto kong ma-try, actually ang gusto ko ay Maalaala Mo Kaya, pangarap ko yun! Pero titingnan natin... Pag narinig ni Lord tapos ibulong kay Ms. Charo [Santos Concio, President and CEO]...
"Shucks, tama ba na sinabi ko yun? Pangarap ko lang yun. Hindi ko alam kung, lalo tuloy akong na-excite... Fan ako ng show na yun. Nanood talaga ako noon. Yung maramdamin, nakakaiyak."
She feels she would be able to cry easily because, "madami akong napagdaanan sa buhay, may paghuhugutan ako!" She jokes the role she'll play is all-around, "ako na lang daw, ako na yung tatay, ako na yung nanay, ako rin yung anak, joke lang..."
She evades the question when we ask if she wants to work with any leading man in particular, because she says, "hindi ko kasi makita na mayroon akong kapareha, ang nakikita ko kasi na gagawin ko yung role na makakarelate ako, kunwari as a mom, yung mga ganoon. Kung ano bigay nila, go, wow... Baka kasi, mapilitan sila sa akin!"
