Maja Salvador’s carrier single “Bakit Ganito Ang Pag-ibig?” from her second record album Maja In Love was released around the same time her then boyfriend Gerald Anderson confirmed their breakup.
But Maja was quick to clarify that the song wasn’t really inspired by her failed relationship with Gerald as she recorded the track as early as November 2014.
Tapos may bagong darating.
“So ‘pag pinakinggan niyo siya, kuwento yun ng Bridges of Love. Hash tag kanta ni Mia,” said Maja, referring to her character in the said primetime teleserye in ABS-CBN.
Truth be told, the Kapamilya actress maintained that she's not the type of girl who'd question love, as the song "Bakit Ganito Ang Pag-ibig" suggests, just because of a heartache.
In Maja In Love, three of the tracks speak of the pain that comes with loving someone deeply including “Bakit Ganito Ang Pag-ibig,” “Gaano Kalayo” and “Love Me, Kill Me.”
The three remaining songs have lyrics that are more hopeful of a blossoming romance including “Habulan,” “Hiling” and “Nakawin Natin Ang Sandali.”
But despite the brokenhearted theme of some of her songs, the Kapamilya actress maintained that she aptly chose the title Maja In Love for her second album because it describes her journey in pursuing a musical career.
“In love ako hindi dahil sa isang tao kundi dahil mayroon akong album.
“In love ako sa trabaho ko. Ang dami kasing bagay o mga pangyayari sa buhay ko na dapat mo ka-in love-an.
Admittedly not a powerful belter like most famous singers in the country, Maja maintained that she’s determined to prove that she also has what it takes to make a name for herself in the music industry.
True enough, record producer/arranger/composer Jonathan Ong came up with catchy pop songs infused with Maja’s brand of sexy and passion for dancing for her album Maja In Love.
It offers danceable tracks such as “Nakawin Natin Ang Sandali” and “Hiling” (featuring Rayver Cruz) to the more sentimental love songs like "Bakit Ganito Ang Pag-ibig" and "Gaano Kalayo" (featuring Sam Milby).
ON COLLABORATING WITH RAYVER. When asked how she feels about collaborating with Rayver Cruz, Maja said that she’s actually thrilled to have a duet of the song that she co-wrote with Jonathan.
Gawin natin.’”
ON COLLABORATING WITH SAM. Maja added that she also enjoyed recording the song “Gaano Kalayo” with her former leading man Sam Milby right before he flew to the States few months back.
Maja was also proud to come up with a foreign-sounding track in her album, “Love Me, Kill Me.”
Maja is truly grateful to be given the opportunity to showcase her talent in singing via her second album Maja In Love, only a year after she launched her debut album Believe.
