7th Star Awards for Music: Sarah Geronimo, Gloc-9, Vice Ganda, Darren Espanto, James Reid among winners

Sarah Geronimo (left frame) was named Female Recording Artist of the Year. Vice Ganda (second from left) and Gloc-9 tied in the Male category. Darren Espanto (rightmost) won two awards at the 7th Star Awards for Music.

The winners of the 7th Star Awards for Music were revealed last night, November 11, by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC).

The awards night was held at the KIA Theater at the Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City.

Vice Ganda (who was shooting at the time) and Ai-Ai delas Alas were unable to personally accept their awards last night.

The It's Showtime host tied with Gloc-9 in the category Male Recording Artist of the Year.

Darren Espanto earned two awards: Pop Album of the Year & Album Cover Concept and Design of the Year for his self-titled album.

Yeng Constantino, who bagged the Song of the Year award for "Ikaw," is currently in Australia.

Meanwhile, Toni Gonzaga is in Japan, which is why she was unable to accept The Album of the Year award for Celestine.

James Reid was able to beat Kyla, the only other nominee in the category R&B Artist of the Year.

However, it was Kyla who earned the award for R&B Album of the Year for her album Journey. Her sole competitor in this category was James Reid (who was nominated for his album Reid Alert).
