Fundraising event for Julio Diaz and Richard Merck to take place on May 1

LaborAkay will be held at the Pioneer Street Market in Mandaluyong, from 12 noon to 9 PM on May 1, 2016. The proceeds of the event will go to Julio Diaz (left frame) and Richard Merck, and Damay Kamay Foundation.

It was on the 8th of April 2016, that the family and friends of Julio Diaz had only 24 hours to prevent brain aneurysm, a dangerous condition which can lead to brain damage, or in some cases, death.

Thankfully, through cooperation, quick-thinking, and the generosity of fellow artists, the worst possible outcome was avoided and Julio Diaz is now safe and recovering.

Looking back into the past, many other similar situations could have been prevented. This incident demonstrated that the spirit of bayanihan is alive and strong among the members of the showbiz industry. The need for a system to coordinate all the goodwill from the industry has catalyzed the genesis of Damay Kamay, an organization founded by an assembly of concerned artists in the industry, for the sake of fellow artists in need.

The main drive of the foundation is to assist and support artists in time of medical emergencies. As such, Damay Kamay’s LaborAkay is a fund-raising event to accumulate the necessary funds to extend such assistance. LaborAkay is the first of many endeavors that will showcase the unity and generosity of artists as one family.
To be held on Labor Day, LaborAkay 2016 will provide its guests with a venue to eat scrumptious food, bask in good company, and engage in fun activities.

The event features food festivals, celebrity bazaars, celebrity auctions, contests, raffles, and various performances from volunteer artists.

Concerned celebrities and other members of the entertainment industry will be participating, including Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, Piolo Pascual, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Vhong Navarro, Giselle Sanchez, Aiza Seguerra, Ricky Davao, Nadia Monetenegro, Vivian Velez, Cherry Pie Picache, Jaclyn Jose, and many more.

The festivities will be held at the Pioneer Street Market in Mandaluyong, from 12 noon to 9 PM on May 1, 2016.

Admission is absolutely free and all proceeds will go to Julio Diaz and Richard Merck, and Damay Kamay Foundation.

This exciting affair is made possible with the help of HMR Trade Haus, a surplus trading company that offers the best deals in office, household and industrial merchandise; and GoEvents Inc., a team of professionals specializing in organizing such events, guaranteeing paramount satisfaction and entertainment for everyone involved in LaborAkay 2016.
