Yeng Constantino admitted to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that she first had doubts when she was told that she will be part of Divas Live in Manila concert.
In the said concert, she will share the stage with fellow singers and Cornerstone talents Rachelle Ann Go, Angeline Quinto, KZ Tandingan, and Kyla.
She said, “Masaya ako, masaya talaga ako dahil wala naman talaga akong concert na ganito kalaki this year.
“So nagulat ako bigla na lang sinabi na may Divas. Wow.
However, she was assured by her management, who are also the producers of the concert, that she can do the concert.
Mas nare-realize ko na this is really a nice nice project.”
Though she is excited to collaborate with all her fellow artists, she specified one person she is excited to sing with at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on November 11.
I want to collaborate with her even with my album.
“Siyempre yung collaboration namin with the whole group.
In fact, Yeng is so excited for Divas Live in Manila that she has already imagined the opening number she would like to have at the concert.
She wants them to sing “Girls (Who Run The World)” by Beyonce for their opening act.
“Siguro for opening gusto ko yung [singing,] ‘Who Run The World, Girls!’
Would it be colorful, ano kayang song, may mga percussion ba?”
INCLUSION IN ANGRY BIRDS SOUNDTRACK. During the press conference proper, Yeng was congratulated for her inclusion as an interpreter in the Angry Birds movie soundtrack.
According to the singer-songwriter, she is very happy to be chosen to perform the female version of the song “Wonderful Life (Mi Oh My).”
In a separate interview, Yeng told PEP and other reporters how she was chosen to be the song’s female interpreter.
She related, “May lalaki talagang version yun, tapos sabi ng Angry Birds gusto nilang gumawa ng female version pero Asian yung gusto nila.
“I don’t know kung paano nila ginawa, sino nilatag nilang artist pero ako yung napili.
“From collaboration [ito] ng Star Music and Warner Philippines. Kinausap nila, pinayagan naman ako to record under them for this album.”
Angry Birds is scheduled to open in Philippine cinemas on May 11. The Hollywood movie features the voices of Peter Dinklage (Tyrion in Game of Thrones), Josh Gad (Olaf of Frozen), and Bill Hader (Fear in Inside Out), among others.
Demi Lovato, Blake Shelton, and DJ Steve Aoki are some of the artists included in the soundtrack.
