Itchyworms, Jason Dy among winners in PhilPop 2016

Itchyworms and Jazz Nicolas won the grand prize in Philpop 2016 for the song "Di Na Muli" composed by Wally Acolola and Jazz Nicolas.




Napatalon sa tuwa si Jazz Nicolas at ang kanyang mga kasamahan sa bandang Itchyworms. Ito ay dahil sila ang itinanghal na grand winner para sa kantang "Di Na Muli," na kanilang in-interpret sa PhilPop 2016 Finals Night na ginanap kagabi, July 23, sa KIA Theater sa Cubao, Quezon City.

Si Jazz at ang kanyang kaibigang si Wally Acolola ang composers ng winning song sa 5th edition ng Philippine Popular Music Festival.

Nanalo naman bilang first runner-up ang composition ni Soc Villanueva, ang "Lahat" na in-interpret ni Jason Dy.

Ang second-runner up title ay napunta sa "Tinatangi" nina Miguel at Paolo Guico, at interpreted by Cookie Chua and Bayang Barrios featuring The Benjamins.

Bilang kampeon sa PhilPop ngayong taon, nag-uwi sina Jazz at Wally ng cash prize na P1 million. Ang first runner-up ay may premyo ring P500,000, habang P250,000 naman sa second runner-up. Lahat ng top 3 winners ay tumanggap din ng Orlina glass trophy.

Nagkaroon din ng special awards na may kasamang P100,000 at trophy bawat isa. Nagwagi ng Maynilad People's Choice Award ang "Lahat" ni Soc, habang pinarangalan naman ng PLDT-Smart Best Music Video ang "Tinatangi" ng Guico twins.

Kabilang din sa 12 finalists ng PhilPop 2016 ang "Sintunado" composed by Jeroel Maranan (interpreted by Nyoy Volante); "Dumadagundong" by Mike Villegas and Brian Cua (Yassi Pressman as interpreter); "Nobody But You" by Keiko Necesario (Monica Cuenco); "Pabili Po" by Aikee Aplacador (Banda ni Kleggy featuring Aikee); "Stars Are Aligned" by JC Jose (Acapellago and Jimmy Marquez); "Baliw Sa Ex-boyfriend Ko" by Joan Da (Sugar and Spice featuring Joan Da); "Friday Night" by Karl Gaurano and Daryl Reyes (Kenjhons), "Binibini sa MRT" by Johann Garcia (The Juans); at "Kahon" composed and interpreted by Ramiru Mataro.

Tumayo bilang mga hurado sa finals night sina Noel Cabangon, Rico Blanco, Gloc-9, Joanna Ampil, at Maynilad Chief Operating Officer Randolph Estrellado. Nagsilbi namang hosts sina Bela Padilla at Boys Night Out DJs na sina Sam YG, Tony Tony, at Slick Rick.

Nakasama ng interpreters ng 12 finalists sa opening number ng programa sina Aiza Seguerra, Donna Cruz, Chad Borja, at Andrew E. Nagkaroon din ng special number sina Ogie Alcasid, Mark Bautista, Kim Molina, kasama ang PhilPop past winners na sina Thyro Alfaro at Yumi Lacsamana with Jeric Medina.

Bukod sa mga hurado, kabilang din sa nagbigay ng awards sa winners ang head ng PhilPop Foundation na si Maestro Ryan Cayabyab.

Ipinalabas din kagabi ang delayed telecast ng PhilPop 2016 Finals Night sa TV5.
