The Chainsmokers on 2016 Manila concert: "To come back, after seeing how well our singles have all done here, it's really an exciting feeling... This is probably like the most anticipated show we've ever played. Ever probably. I'm almost positive about that."

Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart of The Chainsmokers were both overwhelmed by their sold-out concert at the Mall of Asia Arena this Friday night, August 19.

In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) hours before their live performance, Andrew said that he and Alex have been looking forward to their Manila concert for months now.

“We've been getting messages from our Filipino fans for like six months. They're like, 'You have to come here.'

“We like to put the show together because of how much love from social media that we are getting.

“It's just awesome that now we're here, and it's sold out, and tonight it's gonna be crazy.”

Alex, for his part, recalled that he had a blast the first time the Chainsmokers performed in Manila in 2014.

“We played in Republiq three years ago.... It was such a great time. I just remember it being so cool and so fun here.”

Considered as one of the hottest international DJ-producer duo, The Chainsmokers's songs such as “Roses,” “Don't Let Me Down,” “Closer,” "Water Bed," "Kanye," and "Inside Out," topped music charts here in the Philippines this year alone.

Alex admitted, “To come back, after seeing how well our singles have all done here, it's really an exciting feeling...

“This is probably like the most anticipated shows we've ever played. Ever probably. I'm almost positive about that.”

Asked if they are familiar with any Filipino celebrities, Alex revealed that he actually finds a certain Filipina actress attractive.

“I just read about some hot girl. People kept on tweeting us to invite to the show. She's an actress, I think.”

During the interview, Alex couldn't exactly identify who the actress he's referring to, except that she's the one who American-singer Charlie Puth tweeted about recently.

“What's her name? She's like a hot chick. I saw Charlie Puth invited her [via Twitter].”

Alex eventually confirmed that he's speaking about ABS-CBN actress Liza Soberano who got invited by Charlie when he came to Manila for a concert last week.

“Yes... That's the person [Liza].”

Given a chance, the Chainsmokers said that they are open to collaborations with Filipino artists who share the same passion for music.

“We always keep our mind open to any collaborations...

“And we need people to help us, tell us who's cool and stuff.

“'Cause sometimes you get stuck with someone who's not that cool but she might be famous. You know what I mean?

“[We are more into] which ones are cool and authentic artists. It's not really about how successful you are.

“So, we need to get the fans advice who to work with.”
