Four of the most powerful and talented voices teamed up for the Divas Live in Manila concert at the SMART Araneta Coliseum on November 11, 2016.
The event showcased talented singers Queen of R&B Kyla, Pop-rock Superstar Yeng Constantino, Queen of Theme Songs Angeline Quinto, and Soul Supreme KZ, as they performed their biggest hits and covers.
They all share one thing in common: they were all grand winners of singing competitions: Tanghalan ng Kampeon (Kyla), Pinoy Dream Academy (Yeng), Star Power (Angeline), and The X-Factor Philippines (KZ).
The four Divas shook the Big Dome with a breathtaking opening production number, performing Beyonce's "Formation", and Destiny's Child's "Survivor" and "Independent Women".
This was followed by Angeline singing her own version of Ariana Grande's "Breakfree"; Yeng singing "Work, Work, Work" by Rihanna; Kyla singing "All About the Bass" by Mehgan Trainor; and KZ singing Taylor Swift's "Shake it Off."
KZ and Yeng admitted they had self-doubts about doing this concert and being tagged as "Divas."
"Actually hindi talaga 'ko kasama, pero nung sinabing 'gifted', ah sige, pwede na," KZ said.
For the first solo set, KZ performed her hit single “Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako” followed by Gloc-9’s “Sumayaw Ka.”
The rapper was present at the concert and showed his appreciation of the Soul Supreme’s performance of his own song as he posted a video of KZ’s performance on his Facebook account, captioned with a sweet message (published as is).
"Maraming salamat @kztandingan hindi dahil pinili mo ang kantang iyan kung hindi dahil para akong kuya na nanonood sa isang nakababatang kapatid sa isang malaking entablado na alam ko noon pa man ay sayong sayo na sa taglay mong talento at sa kabaitan mo. I'm very proud of you Mabuhay ka at ill see you soon."
The concert continued with the Pop Rock Superstar’s solo performances of Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name, and songwriters medley of her own hits “Jeepney,” “Hawak Kamay,” and “Ikaw.”
Yeng expressed how grateful she was that through this concert, she built a deeper relationship with the other three Divas.
“Matagal ko na pong pangarap talaga ang magkaroon ako ng mga kaibigang babae, kasi one of the boys po talaga ‘ko.
She continued, “Thank you so much Cornerstone [Entertainment Inc.] at pinagsama-sama niyo kami. Nagkaroon ako ng mga kapatid, nagkaroon ako ng mga kaibigan na iki-keep ko for life.”
At one point of the concert, singer-comedienne K Brosas, lifted up the mood of the venue with her hirits.
Together with the Divas, K sang a soulful rendition of Rico J. Puno’s “May Bukas Pa.”
For the third solo performance, Angeline impressed the crowd as she was put on a harness and was lifted up as she reached high notes for the classic song “The Impossible Dream.”
This was followed by the the Queen of Theme Songs’ medley of “Hanggang Saan Hanggang Kailan” and “Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon.”
With a Tina Turner vibe, Jaya joined the four Divas onstage as they hyped concertgoers with the upbeat “Rollin’ on the River.”
The Queen of Soul told the audience how she was amazed with voices of the four Divas, tagging them as “true blue Divas of their generation.”
One of the crowd favorite among the performance was Kyla’s solo stage.
The Queen of R&B sang a wonderful rendition of her recent covers “On The Wings of Love” and “Till I Met You.”
Both were used as main theme songs for Kapamilya primetime shows with the same titles.
Kyla became emotional as she recalled the time before she entered the music industry.
The show continued with her jazz-infused performance of “Don’t Worry Be Happy.”
KZ and Yeng went back onstage for the dynamic duet of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.”
Yeng revealed that they are planning to hold the Divas world tour, following this staging in Manila.
“Abangan niyo po kami, a, kahit saan man kami dalhin ng concert na ‘to,” KZ told their fans.
One of the highlights of the night was their number with their idol Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez. Together, they sang her hit song “Shine.”
KZ got kilig as she finally had a duet with Regine for the song “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw.”
For the first time on one stage, Yeng got to sing “Pangako” with Asia’s Songbird.
Angeline joined her for another powerful rendition of one of Regine’s biggest hits “Dadalhin.”
Regine was also one of Angeline’s guests at her recent concert with Erik Santos.
For the first time again, Kyla and Regine had the chance to sing together. They mesmerized the crowd with their rendition of the song “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka.”
Regine told the four singers before leaving the stage, “Just continue to sing, continue to do concerts. Dapat pagkatapos nito, meron ulit kayo, isa-isa.”
She added, “It’s such an honor to be here, and thank you for singing my songs.”
“Naiiyak ako, kasi kinakanta niyo yung mga songs ko. I’m very touched, indeed.”
Regine even showed her comedic side when she jokingly told Angeline, "Yung talent fee mo, binigay sa akin! Hindi mo alam?!"
Before the show ended, KZ, Angeline, Kyla and Yeng sang another set of powerful songs: “Hanggang Kailan,” “Huwag Ka Nang Umiyak,” “Lapit,” and “Kunin Mo Na Ang Lahat Sa Akin,” respectively.
For the finale, KZ sang “Superstar”; Kyla, “I am Changing”; Angeline sang “Patuloy Ang Pangarap; and Yeng sang one of her hit songs “Salamat.”
As the concert ended, the four Divas thanked the people who made the concert possible as well as the stars who attended the concert.
Some of the artists who enjoyed the concert were Jason Dy, Daryl Ong, Klarrise de Guzman Gloc-9, film and TV director Joyce Bernal, and the finalists of Pinoy Boyband Superstar.
Among the audience was Yeng’s co-Pinoy Boyband Superstar fellow judge, Vice Ganda.
Kakai Bautista was also present at the venue. She was KZ’s fellow Your Face Sounds Familiar contestant.
Kapamilya actor Aaron Villaflor.
Banana Sundae star Pooh.
Singe-actor Erik Santos also attended the concert.
At one point of the event, Angeline Quinto, his rumored girlfriend, acknowledged Erik's presence at the Big Dome.
