(L-R) Moira dela Torre, Morissette Amon, and KZ Tandingan received their trophies at the 2018 Wish Music Awards held at the Araneta Coliseum on Monday, January 15.

Original Pilipino Music triumphed at the 3rd Wish Music Awards organized by Wish 107.5 FM radio station.

The awards night, which had the theme “Taking Filipino Music Across the Globe,” was held on Monday, January 15, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The winners received a trophy and P25,000 cash prize.

Wish 107.5 FM also granted P100,000 to the winner's chosen charitable group.

The program was hosted by Christian Bautista and Gretchen Ho.

During one of her spiels, Gretchen rapped the first two lines of the song "Malaya" that go: Pasensya na, kung papatulugin na muna / Ang pusong napagod

Christian teased her by saying, "May hugot. Pagod na ba ang puso mo? May pinagdadaanan ka ba?"

Gretchen answered, "Paborito ko talaga. Iba si Moira."

Later on, Gretchen and her co-host presented another trophy.

Gretchen asked her co-host to sing a portion of the song. "Pwede ba humingi ng sample para mas maintindihan ko?"

The Kapuso performer then sang the line: Huwag kang bibitaw, kapit.

The female TV host informed the audience, "Add niyo ako sa @gretchenho"

ABS-CBN singer Morissette Amon is this year's big winner. The 21-year-old Birit Queen won six awards in total: Wishclusive Pop Performance of the Year, Wish Artist of the Year, Wish Reactors’ Choice, and three special awards.

In an interview backstage with (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press, Morissette thanked her fans for their overwhelming support for her music career.

She said, "I'm just really grateful kasi ako, I told Iñigo who's in the same table as I was seated while waiting for the announcement—Iñigo was a co-nominee—sabi ko sa kanya deserve mo yun kasi pinush nila yung original song.

"I'm very happy kasi very supportive pa rin po ng mga supporters ko, Morinatics, sa lahat ng performances ko and that's something... my co-nominees inspire me so much to keep pushing OPM."

KZ Tandingan bagged four trophies including Wish Urban Song of the Year, Wishclusive Viral Videos of the Year, and two special awards.

She thanked music producer/composer Jungee Marcelo for writing the song "Labo" for her album titled Soul Supremacy.

She told the press, "I'm very fortunate na nasulatan niya ako ng kanta for my album so sobrang saya, hindi ko pa ma-absorb."

KZ's long-time boyfriend TJ Monterde also bagged a trophy at the 3rd Wish Music Awards. TJ won the award for Wish Pop Song of the Year.

During his interview, TJ was a bit speechless since this is the first time he received a recognition in his music career.

"Sobrang gandang birthday gift, New Year's gift sa akin 'to ni Lord."

Acoustic singer Moira Dela Torre was still shaking after she received the awards for Wishclusive Contemporary Folk Performance of the Year and Wishclusive Viral Videos of the Year.

She told PEP, "I'm very, very grateful. I don't know, I have no words to explain how it feels. I have more respect for all the artists that have won awards and they got to speak well without shaking. I'm just so grateful."

R&B singer Jay-R said he didn't expect to win Wish R&B Song of the Year for his song "Kabilang Dako."

He told the press backstage, "Very unexpected. Atually, pinag-uusapan namin with Kris Lawrence, Billy Crawford, pinaguusapan namin and sabi namin kung sino man manalo happy na kami.

"Kasi parang dream na namin magsama sa nomination e, yung pupunuin namin yung R&B na nomination kaya yung feeling to win it is especially more satisfying."

"It's such a great feeling na talagang nire-recognize ang mga hard work na ginagawa namin."

Michael Pangilinan considers his award for Wishclusive R&B Performance of the Year as a great blessing.

Ben&Ben earned several awards including Wish Group/Duo of the Year and Wish Contemporary Folk Song of the Year. This group is composed of Paolo and Miguel Guico (acoustic guitars and vocals), Poch Barretto (electric guitar), Jam Villanueva (drums), Agnes Reoma (bass), Patricia Lasaten (keyboards), Toni Muñoz and Andrew de Pano (percussions), and Keifer Cabugao (violin).

Paolo (leftmost) said, "This is actually the first award na napanalunan namin as a band so maraming, maraming salamat. Sobrang memorable sa amin nito and gusto namin pasalamatan lahat ng tumulong sa pag-produce ng songs.

"Kasi sila yung bihirang nabibigyan ng recognition, so gusto namin ibalik sa kanila. Gusto namin pasalamatan ang management namin Sindikato, and Warner Music Philippines, and, of course, sa lahat ng listeners ng Ben & Ben at original Pilipino Music."

Flict-G accepted the award for Wishclusive Collaboration of the Year in behalf of Curse One, Dello, and Smugglaz.

The rapper admitted that they weren't expecting to win the category and said, "Siyempre, masaya kasi hindi ko inaasahan na makukuha namin 'to. Ang bibigat ng kalaban and sobrang magagaling talaga sila.

"Halos lahat naman kami deserve itong trophy na 'to at ang pinakapanalo talaga dito, e, yung OPM."

IV of Spades—composed of Unique Salonga, Zild Benitez, Blaster Silonga, Badjao De Castro—won the awards for Wish Rock/Alternative Song of the Year and Wishclusive Urban Performance of the Year. Zild (second from right) said in an interview that this recognition would help OPM listeners and their family take their music seriously.

He said, "I think when we were starting, everyone's not believing in our music. There's a lot of people that think that we're just playing around. I think this is a huge step for us to show our family that we're doing the things that we want and we're on the right track, I think."

5thGen—composed of Reymond Sajor, Marielle Mamaclay, Lady Onnagan, and RJ Buenagua—received the award for Wishclusive Ballad Performance of the Year.

Reymond spoke in behalf of his bandmates and said, "Second time namin 'to to twin and we're not expecting it at all kasi nga medyo malalakas yung mga kalaban namin.

"And we just prayed and believed, you know, na dahil sa maganda yung kanta na kinompose ng managers namin, na may patutunguhan yung kanta. And God never failed us kaya we're very grateful and really thankful."
