KZ Tandingan becomes regular contender in China's Singer 2018

KZ Tandingan explains why she chose to sing Mandarin songs in Singer 2018.

KZ Tandingan is now a regular contender in Singer 2018.

The Filipina singer performed a medley of Mandarin songs during the February 16, 2018 episode of the Chinese reality singing competition.

KZ performed the song "The Pain which You Don't Know" for her second appearance in the show as a challenger.

Some Chinese viewers in the audience were even moved to tears by KZ's version.

Her competitors include British pop star Jessie J, and popular singers from China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Chinese singer Hua Chenyu emerged as the No. 1 singer while Jessie J, who performed “Purple Rain," landed in the No. 2 spot.

KZ ranked sixth out of eight that night.

Audiences vote for the contestants who will stay in Singer 2018, which is scheduled to hold its live finale on April 13.

The first winner of The X Factor Philippines explained in a video interview that she opted to perform the songs in Mandarin because, "I want to show my respect to the Chinese audience, Chinese culture, Chinese music."
