Sharon Cuneta is surprise guest in Rufa Mae's concert

"Na-surprise talaga ako. Dapat magco-costume change na ako," says an ecstatic Rufa Mae Quinto when Sharon Cuneta performed at her post-Valentine concert at the Aliw Theater.

The Megastar Sharon Cuneta nearly stole the limelight during the sold-out concert of Rufa Mae Quinto and Erik Santos at the Aliw Theater last February 16. She sang "The Land of the Loving," which took Erik and Rufa Mae by surprise.

"Nag-text kasi sa kin si Erik na nanaginip siya at naiyak nang kinantahan ko siya ng ‘Land of the Loving,'" explains Sharon, on why she decided to surprise the prince of pop and his girlfriend that night. "Kina-konchaba ko si Louie Ocampo." Louie was the musical director of the said post-Valentine concert.

Other celebrities present that night were sweethearts Sandara Park and Joseph Bitangcol as well as comedian Diego Llorica, who showed support for his fellow Bubble Gang host, Rufa Mae.

During the opening number, Rufa Mae's fuchsia-colored top got a bit loose from all her gyrating and dancing, causing her to pause slightly while trying to pull it back up. Her boyfriend Erik was too engrossed in his performance to notice her dilemma.

Rufa Mae's comedic skills and Erik's singing talent were a good combination, as proven by this repeat performance of their concert staged last September at the Music Museum. The audience was treated to the funny antics of the Bubble Gang mainstay as well as the singing prowess of the 2003 Star in a Million grand champion.

A sample of their banter goes like this: "Ang sexy mo naman, baby," compliments Erik. I'm sure di ka naman magpapatalbog," remarks Rufa Mae. In another instance, Erik belts out part of the song "Be My Lady." Rufa reacts by saying, "Bakit ginagalingan mo? Tinatalbugan mo ako ha. Break na tayo!" She then storms out of the stage.

Singer-composer Ogie Alcasid sang a reggae version of the song "Nandito Ako," causing the crowd to bob their heads in time with his upbeat and catchy tune. Comedy concert queen Ai-Ai delas Alas performed with the male dancers of Hotlegs while wearing a red-hot corset dress that really showed all of her curves.

Undoubtedly, the funniest portion of the show is the time when Ai-Ai and Rufa Mae exchanged banter onstage. "Itong duet namin minsan-minsan n'yo lang makikita. Siya [Ai-Ai] ang nagturo sa kin ng vocalization. Ikaw si Barbara [Streisand] at ako naman si Silinjon," declares Booba. "Anong Silinjon? Celine Dion!" says an amused Ai-Ai. The audience roars with laughter before the two sing "Tell Him."

This concert, billed as When Erik Met Rufa The Repeat... to the Max!, was produced by the couple who have been together for eight months now.

After the concert, Rufa Mae explained that it might be her last major concert since she wants to concentrate on doing movies. For now, she has two movie offers but is hesitant to disclose information about them.

The couple also narrated what their Valentine's Day gifts were to each other. The pair of shoes that Erik was wearing that night was a gift from Rufa Mae, which she bought at Bangkok. Meanwhile, the singing champion surprised Peachy (Rufa Mae's nickname) by spreading red rose petals all over a hallway of her house. He also prepared a personalized collage for his loved one. It took him around two hours to decorate the hallway and install everything in her house. Not being content with this expression of his love, Erik also gave Peachy a heart-shaped pendant for Valentine's Day.

The 24-year old Erik, who is four years Rufa Mae's junior, reveals that the possibility of marriage has still not crossed their minds. They talk about it but only in passing, he says.
