Matapos ang kanyang limang taon sa music industry, sa wakas ay matutupad na rin ang matagal nang pinapangarap na solo concert ni Jimmy Marquez, ang It's About Time...Jimmy Marquez.
Nakapanayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at ng ilang entertainment press si Jimmy kahapon, Oktubre 4, sa opisina ng Viva Entertainment sa Tektite Building, Mandaluyong City.
Si Jimmy ay ang 2nd runner-up winner sa ABS-CBN talent search na Search For The Star In A Million Season 2, kung saan nagkampeon ang RnB singer na si Kris Lawrence.
Matapos niyang lumahok sa naturang talent search, sumali naman siya sa 9th Shanghai Asia Music Festival noong 2006. Mula sa 29 kalahok, napanalunan ni Jimmy ang Silver Prize sa Asia New Singer Competition.
Mula sa mga kompetisyong ito, naging regular guest siya sa mga concert tours ni Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo.
Ngunit ngayon, mula sa pagiging guest singer, magkakaroon na siya ng kanyang kauna-unahang solo concert.
"I'm very excited!" bulalas niya.
"I used to think its impossible kasi I don't have naman a record, or what.
"I'm anxious at the same time, but I'm more excited kasi parang this is the right time, ito na 'yon.
"I just feel that this is the right time for me to, you know, do my own, solo concert.
"Since mayroon nagmagandang loob na mag-produce, I mean, why not?
"I feel that this is the best time after five years, if I have done this on the prior [years], I think parang hindi siya in the right time.
"I feel that this is the right time for me to do it now."
FROM CURRENT TO CLASSICS. Para sa kaniyang concert, ang composer na si Baby Gil ang naging consultant ni Jimmy.
May tatlong segments daw ang concert ni Jimmy: Current Hits, Songs of My Life, at Classics.
Kuwento ni Jimmy, "First part is current hits. The really current hits like, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and here sa atin, Adelle, 'yong mga ganyan.
"Then, second part is the story of my life.
"So, it's gonna be like, I will tell them my struggles as an artist, how I started, experiences.
"I'll sing 'Babadap-badap' by Gary Garanda, it's about parang embracing your [sexuality], so I feel it is for me.
"It was suggested by Tita Baby, so parang sabi ko, this is the music of my life.
"After that I'll sing a Visayan song, siyempre since I'm from Cebu, so I'll sing 'Usahay' to pay tribute to my home [town].
"For the classics, I will do balladeers, like, songs of Basil Valdez, Nonoy Zuniga, and Rey Valera.
"Tapos, I'll also do Barbara Streisand songs, like 'Evergreen' and 'As If We Never Said Goodbye.'"
