After a month and a half of searching for the next MYX VJ, the search was over and the winner announced at Red Box Eastwood.
But instead of one winner, MYX decided that out of the 12 finalists, three would be hailed and welcomed into the MYX family of VJs.
Hosted by current MYX VJs Iya Villania and Chino Pio, himself a winner of the MYX VJ Search, the finale also featured performances from various artists.
Asia's acoustic sweetheart Sabrina sang two songs from her latest album Acoustic Love Notes, providing an intimate look at love and relationships interspersed with advice from Dr. Love himself, Joe D' Mango.
Teen duo, called Absolute Play, was simply adorable as they rendered two songs from their Absolute Play album. Murielle, the 12-year old lead vocalist and Mato, the 13-year old guitarist and song writer, explained how they came up with their own songs and how they intend to use the album proceeds to give back to streetkids' education through the Little Hands Foundation.
The quirky and straightforward style of Rocksteddy led by the ever-funny Teddy Corpuz was an absolute crowd-pleaser and helped dissipate the tension in the room as their two songs were the last two performed before the announcement of winners.
MYX, being the channel for people on the go, also allowed the entire finale to be streamed live via myxph.com so that the fans in the Philippines and even abroad could learn about the results right away.
After learning about all the different tasks including starring in their own TV commercials, editing videos, video blogs, and online digital tasks (a first for the MYX VJ Search finals), three finalists came out on top.
The first to be announced was Michelle, a Singaporean now based in the Philippines. Her parents flew in from Singapore to attend the finals and they couldn't stop crying and smiling when the announcement was made.
Michael, a good-looking guy who kept using the popular internet slang YOLO or you only live once, was the second winner to be announced. He is a sports lover who sees himself becoming a commentator one day.
Lastly, Kristine Camille Antonio, the girl who has already played so many roles already (pre-school teacher, event host, make-up artist, band vocalist) can finally add VJ to her list of accomplishments as she was crowned the final winner of this year's MYX VJ Search.
The very next day, all three winners were asked to report to work so they can join MYX VJs Iya Villania, Nikki Gil, Luis Manzano, Chino Pio, and Bianca Roque in bringing music to Filipino listeners here and abroad.
