Ms. Helen Gamboa is now a GMA-7 artist as she inked a contract yesterday, July 2, at the GMA Network Center.
The veteran actress was last seen in the ABS-CBN primetime series Walang Hanggan where she portrayed the scheming character Doña Margaret.
Present in the contract signing were Shirley Kuan (Helen's manager), GMA Entertainment TV's OIC Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Ms. Helen Gamboa, GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, and GMA Vice President for Drama Redgie Acuña-Magno.
Ms. Gamboa will be part of GMA-7's upcoming primetime drama, Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas. The veteran actress says that she is honored to be part of the Kapuso Network and is looking forward to working on her first project in GMA.
"Honestly, I am deeply honored to be joining Channel 7. I am so excited about this wonderful project that they have for me. I am sure I'm going to have a very good working relationship with all of you especially with the production team. I'm really looking forward to beautiful days of tapings," she was quoted as saying in a release provided by GMA-7.
Ms. Gamboa says her role in Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas is a very good acting piece where she is cast as a villain. "Every project that I do, every role that I portray, I really feel challenged at pinagbubuti ko to the best of my ability. Siguro it will inspire me more na as I go on, pagbubutihin ko pa lalo yung pagganap sa character na ipo-portray ko. When you are an actress and talagang dedicated ka sa craft mo, you will do everything to give a good performance."
During the contract signing, Atty. Gozon said that Helen is a welcome addition to GMA's roster of artists. "Tayo ay both honored and very happy that Helen Gamboa is joining us. She is not only a good singer but also a very good actress. Sabi ko nga kanina, parang yung itsura niya ay hindi nagbabago."
Rasonable, on the other hand, says they are very happy that Ms. Gamboa accepted the role in Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas. "We are very happy na tinanggap niya yung offer namin na ito. We are looking forward kasi we know she is such an excellent actress. Ang laki ng maibibigay niya sa soap na ginagawa namin. Sana masiyahan siya sa kaniyang pagtatrabaho dito sa GMA as we are happy to have her."
Akin Pa Rin ang Bukas is the first soap directorial job of Ms. Laurice Guillen. It will be topbilled by Lovi Poe, Rocco Nacino, Solenn Heussaff, Charie Pineda, Gary Estrada, and Cesar Montano, among others.
