Patrizha Martinez and three other Biggest Loser Doubles contestants drop out after admitting to cheating

Four contestants in The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles volunteered to drop out of the competition after admitting they cheated by taking weight loss supplements.

In a controversial episode aired last Saturday (April 5), Du brothers Ralph and Christian and showbiz royalties Pat and Cathy confessed that they brought in cigarettes, junk food, and even slimming tea to help them lose extra pounds even if they knew these items were extremely prohibited inside the camp.

At the start of the episode, Biggest Loser host Iza Calzado already warned the contestants that she had news that would have a huge impact on all of them.

She reminded the contestants that ABS-CBN's reality show aims to help them lose weight through the use of "tamang nutrisyon, ehersisyo at pagpapahalaga sa kani-kanilang kalusugan."

Iza then asked the four contestants to give their messages.

Christian, who runs a catering and canteen business, was the first to speak up.

"Inaantay ko po yung time na magkamali ako para po matutuo. Siguro po ito yung way para maindintindihan ko sarili ko."

His voice broke as he continued: "Siguro dahil sa mga nagawa ko, sa mga nasaktan ko, sisiguraduhin ko po na ipapakita ko sa inyo na matututo ako, na ipapasa ko po lahat ng natutunan ko dito, sa competition na ito… Nagvo-volunteer po ako na i-end na ang journey ko sa Biggest Loser."

Ralph, who runs a PVC boat company, then followed by admitting, "Tulad ng kapatid ko, nabulag ako sa totoong spirit ng competition nitong Biggest Loser.

"Saka ako rin, hindi ko inakalang aabot ako sa point na magiging ganoon ako. Lalo na po, tinuturo sa amin ng dad namin parati is [ang] intergridad and hindi mo kailangang bilihin. Basta gawin mo lang ang tama at ipagpatuloy ang tama. Ako rin po nagde-decide na voluntarily i-end ang journey ko dito sa Biggest Loser."

Cathy is the daughter of Gigi dela Riva and producer Marlon Bautista, eldest brother of Senator Bong Revilla.

"Nadi-disappoint ako and I know I've disappointed a lot of people—my parents ko, ang BL [Biggest Loser], the coaches, the contestants, and everyone who believed in me...from the beginning until the end, even Ate Pat, I disappointed her."

She wiped away her tears as she continued, "Right now, thinking of what I did, it wasn't worth it. I could have stayed true to myself andI can't even express how sorry I am to you guys. I think it will be better rin if I step down and know the real Cathy again."

Patrizha Martinez, daughter of celebrity couple William and Yayo Martinez, was crying as she recalled, "Nung pumasok ako, masaya ako just thinking na kahit maka-lose man lang ako 20 pounds, okay na ako. Kasi gusto ko lang naman magsayaw uli, e. Gusto ko rin maging proud ang papa ko.

"I don’t want this to define me, because this is not who I am. I want people to remember me siya yung nagkamali pero buong loob niyang hinarap at taas-noo siyang babangon."

Another contest, Kayen Lazaro, revealed that she already knew that they were cheating but she did not speak out because of fear.

"For the longest time, nagkulong lang ako sa kwarto, just because I knew about the things that were happening. Super takot ako to get into trouble kaya kahit na gusto kong maki-socialize, talagang pinigil ko na hindi. Siguro kasi naiirita rin ako everytime I see it happening.

"But we are not here to judge Christian, Ralph, Pat and Cathy," she said tearfully.

"Super na-appreciate ko na in-admit nila na greed was there. They're afraid of something. I know our friendship will go beyond that."

With the departure of Ralph, Christian, Pat, and Cathy, a batch of contestants are set to return to The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles camp and resume their weight loss journey.
