Ryan Agoncillo stars in GMA-7's upcoming weekend primetime Ismol Family. It will premiere this Sunday, June 22, after 24 Oras Weekend.

Ryan Agoncillo said that if there’s one thing he can relate with his character in the sitcom Ismol Family, it is having wonderful children and a hardworking wife.

“One thing I can relate with Jingo is he has a wonderful child na si PJ [Marc Justine Alvarez] at ang asawang napakasipag na si Majay at siyempre meron kaming anak-anakan na si Yumi [Bianca Umali] na malapit na magkaroon ng boyfriend [Miguel Tanfelix].

“So yun lang, I guess it’s just the happy family that I can relate with Jingo.

Ismol Family is really about how Filipino families deal with extended core family dito sa Pilipinas.”

Ryan is glad that GMA-7 gave him the chance to be part of Ismol Family aside from allowing him to continue hosting the game show Picture Picture.

“Well, matagal-tagal na rin akong hindi nagkaka-sitcom,” said the actor-TV host.

“And ang bago dito, it’s about the extended family.

Isang stay at home dad.

“So… ‘yon na ang kaguluhan!” tawa ni Ryan.

“I’m sure a lot of Filipino families can relate to that.

“And you’ll be surprised… pampa-happy! Pero ‘yong mga issue, importante at totoo.

“Kaya marami ang makaka-relate. Kahit ako nakaka-relate.”

In a separate interview, Ryan pointed out: “Kasi si Jingo dito, sentro siya ng isang pamilya na buong bahay ata sira ulo.

“Yung bahay namin ni Majay [Carla Abellana], yung bahay ng Ismol Family parang may sumpa, e.

“Parang lahat sila walang tuwid kaya masaya sa Ismol family.”

In the sitcom, the children of Ryan and Carla are portrayed by Marc Justine Alvarez and Bianca Umali.

Ryan has been starring in comedy shows for a long time already. What is the challenge for him in this new sitcom?

“Definitely may challenge.

Also si Mikael Daez who plays the role of Bernie na bestfriend ko sa story.”

How difficult is it to do comedy in this new show?

How was it being paired with Carla for the first time?

“Ayos naman!

“Magaan naman siyang katrabaho. Kasi magkakilala kami because I guested on their hit teleserye, ‘yong My Husband’s Lover.

“So at least na-break na ang ice do’n. So okay naman.

“Masaya sa set. Enjoy kami lahat.”
