Erich Gonzales has decided to back out of her role in ABS-CBN's upcoming drama series Love Thy Woman.
This happened roughly three months after it was announced that Erich will be co-headlining the show with real-life sweethearts Kim Chiu and Xian Lim.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) received a feed from a source that Erich resigned from Love Thy Woman on Tuesday night, July 23.
The source said Erich withdrew from the project because her character is being turned into a kontrabida which was not in the discussion when the role was first pitched to her.
That Erich was once romantically linked to Xian had nothing to do with her backing out from the project, the source added.
The former The Blood Sisters star even said in previous interviews that she is looking forward to working with Kim and Xian.
It would have been their first teamup as a love triangle on screen.
While it was not known when Love Thy Woman will start airing on ABS-CBN, the source also made it clear that the cast has already started taping and that the project is still a go.
It was on April 8 when the full cast of the show met for a story conference in ABS-CBN's headquarters.
In the story, Erich plays an architect who comes from a wealthy Chinese family.
She is engaged to the character of Xian Lim.
Kim, for her part, plays Erich's half-sister.
Directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, Love Thy Woman's powerhouse cast includes Christopher De Leon, Sunshine Cruz, Eula Valdez, Ruffa Gutierrez, and Zsa Zsa Padilla.
