Ariosto Reyes Jr. reunites with Lovingly Yours, Helen co-star Vivian Foz in an episode of Magpakailanman.

Lahad niya sa PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), “It gave me an opportunity to come back again to the industry that I love the most.

"Actually, nung tinamaan ako ng… you know, my health condition, I had a pink slip from my wife to go back, to perform again.

"So, nung sinabi niya sa akin, 'we’ll do a show,' by all means!

"Especially performing with Vivian, you know, it brings back memories, and she’s easy to work with."

FIRST ACTING PROJECT AFTER 20 YEARS

“Well, this is my first time after, what, 20 years?

"Definitely the staff, very accommodating, very nice.

"I mean it, kasi nga after being absent for so long, maganda, maganda.

"Even sa crew side, kita mo naman, kanya-kanya silang ano… and they take their positions very seriously.

“Hindi sa hindi sila serious dati, ha, pero I see more professionalism now.”

“It depends on my health, you know, 'coz, like, my medication right now, I can only get it from the States, but definitely if there will be other projects I can easily get…

"Hopefully, easily get a pink slip from my doctor para… ‘O, sige, lumipad ka muna then come back after three-four weeks, saksakan ka uli ng gamot, then balik ka na naman dito.’

"Because my medication, kailangan i-sustain nila, e.

“Kapag hindi, baka wala nang dialogue na lumabas!” ang tumatawang pahayag ni Ariosto na isang cancer survivor.

WHY ARIOSTO QUIT SHOWBIZ

Bakit hindi itinuluy-tuloy ni Ariosto ang pag-aartista?

Kuwento ng dating aktor, “Magagalit sa akin yung… hindi naman, well… by the time umalis ako, kasi it was Boots Anson who told me, ‘If you really want to have a family…’

"Kasi alam niya malapit na akong ikasal, e, ‘You want to maintain your family, leave show business for a while until mag-settle yung mga anak mo and then come back if you want to.’

“Kaya umalis ako, and I love the business very much.

"Pero kapag yung mga anak mo siyempre, you want to protect them so much.

"E, wala pa ako noon, so sabi ko, let me get out for a while and see.

"'Tapos, ayun na, hindi ka na makakabalik agad easily siyempre, nandun na sila, e."

Gaano siya katagal sa showbiz?

“I started show business when I was about 10 years old, it was about 1968-69, especially black and white pa ang mga…

"And I think I mentioned this earlier, my first coloured film was through Lino Brocka, yung Wanted: Perfect Mother [1970], kami nina Snooky, si Arnold [Gamboa] 'tsaka Gina [Alajar], and then… sino pa mga nakakasama ko noon? Sina Eddie Garcia...

“Eddie Garcia was my first father, 'tapos nagkaroon ng love triangle ‘yan dun sa pelikulang Gumuho Man ang Langit with Eddie Rodriguez, Marlene Dauden, and Barbara Perez.

"'Tapos, Magsisi Man Ako was with Divina Valencia, Renato Robles….

"Ewan ko kung inabot mo pa yung mga yun, it was very nice, masarap katrabaho yung mga tao.

"And si Liza Morena, asawa ni Eddie Rodriguez, and si Eddie Garcia was my first father, ayun."

BACK ON TELEVISION

“Ngayon, mga digital na, e, 'coz I remember during the old days sa Channel 5, yung malalaking camera, e, yung mga higante, 'tapos hindi pa tumatayo yung mga tapes noon, it took so long.

“Ngayon, maganda, because minsan, nakakapag-shoot ka konti na lang yung editing mo, and the equipments are not that heavy, 'tsaka maganda because at least I’m seeing more young professionals in the industry, I’m not kidding.

“Kasi dati, maraming, ‘O, kaya ko ‘to, kaya ko ‘to, paano ‘yan? O ganito’...

"Now, no, I’m hearing you guys doing more pre-production, doing a lot of post-production.

"And I think, mas pinag-iisipan ninyo yung whatever project there is, you know.

"And for me, yung mga preparations na ganun, that makes a lot of difference.

"It’s what differentiates the pros from the amateurs."
