Balik-showbiz si Rhian Ramos sa GMA-7 drama series na Love Of My Life matapos ang isang taong pamamahinga.
Huli siyang napanood sa 2018 Kapuso teleserye na The One That Got Away.
“For seven months, I went to New York. Doon muna ako tumira,” kuwento ni Rhian sa January 28 press con ng Love of My Life sa GMA Network Center, Quezon City.
“I took improv-comedy lessons. It’s kind of a group activity where wala kayong script and when you come out on stage, may isang taong mag-i-initiate and gagawa na kayo ng kuwento, tungkol lang sa isang word na iyon, parang ganun.”
Workshop ba ito o acting class?
“Well, it’s a class. I did it twice a week for six months.”
Bakit niya naisipang kunin ang class na ito?
“Because after The One That Got Away, I… well actually before pa, bata pa ako, I was very passionate already about comedy.
“Akala ko talaga, I would have something to do with comedy paglaki ko, and lumaki akong nanonood ng Saturday Night Live at saka Whose Line Is It Anyway?
“And a lot of...yung mga ginagawa nila doon, improv, hindi iyon galing sa script, iniimbento nila.
“So, sabi ko, gusto ko talagang gawin iyon. Tapos, noong ginawa ko yung The One That Got Away, sa wakas, nakatikim ako ng comedy after a long, long, long time.
“Sobrang na-enjoy ko siya, so ayun, sineryoso ko.”
Nagpaalam si Rhian sa GMA na magpapahinga siya nang isang taon.
“Yes, nagpaalam ako in advance… well, at first, it was a series of emailing back and forth. Kasi siyempre, may kontrata ako, di ba?
“And then later on, we met in person. I think they wanted to understand kung bakit siya importante sa akin, at saka at that time din kasi, parang it was all dramas available, hindi talaga ako ready to do another drama, emotionally hindi ako ready.”
Gusto niya ng ice breaker sa pagdadrama?
“Yeah, so… pero now, this show naman is also a drama, pero now I think I’m ready, kasi nakalipas na ang more than a year and I think I got my feel na din.”
Kakaiba ang inaral ni Rhian sa kinuha ni Lovi Poe sa America. Limang buwan namang namalagi si Lovi sa Los Angeles, California.
“Very different, I know Lovi did an acting class, and she was probably given scripts, and memorized them and performed them.
“Kasi kami, wala kaming script, e. It’s more of like mind exercises, para mabilis kang mag-react, pag may tinapon sa iyo on the spot.
“Kasi, hihingi ka ng suggestions sa audience and they can say anything in the world, like hatchback car, tapos gagawa kayo ng kuwento tungkol sa isang hatchback car, parang ganun.”
Handa ba si Rhian na gumawa ng isang improv (improvisation) show sa Pilipinas?
“Well, I’m out of practice, hindi ako nag-practice ever since I’ve come back. I think I need to join a team. Kasi, marami rin namang mga improv teams dito, I have to join one.”
Wala pang ganitong show sa bansa kaya nais ni Rhian na magkaroon sana nito sa Pilipinas.
“Oo, wish ko na more people will be open to improv, at saka nagagamit ko siya in my work, even if it’s drama.
“Kasi minsan, may ibabato sa iyo yung kaeksena mo na hindi ka prepared. Kasi, pag binasa mo yung script, may ini-imagine ka na, ‘Ay, siguro ganito iyung pagkasabi niya, ganito iyung tono niya pag sinabi niya ‘to sa akin.’
“Tapos, binigay sa ‘yo in a very different way, mabilis kang mag-adjust. I just have to be careful na huwag masyadong mag-adlib, kasi siyempre, hindi naman lahat ng kaeksena, gusto iyun. Yung iba, gusto. Iyung iba, ‘Huwag, may script tayo, e.’”
Kailan siya nasa America?
“I was there November… well, I went in October and then I came back in May, walang one year, I was there mga six, seven months.
“One year akong wala sa showbiz… well, one year akong wala sa TV, kasi itong show na ‘to, five months na ako nagshu-shoot for this show, matagal na namin ‘tong ginagawa,” pagtukoy ni Rhian sa Love Of My Life, na palabas na gabi-gabi sa GMA Telebabad.
Ano ang maasahan kay Rhian sa teleserye na Love Of My Life?
“Well, here kasi in this show, I think makikita mo na lahat ng tao, iba-iba. Hindi ibig sabihin, may tamang person o mali. Kami kasi, iba-iba talaga iyung characters namin.
“Sometimes, yung differences na yun complement each other; sometimes may ka-clash talaga.
“It doesn’t mean you’re just good or you’re bad. Lahat ng tao, may flaws, so very realistic siya.”
Narito ang synopsis ng Love Of My Life:
The Gonzales family is not like any other, Isabella (Coney Reyes), the matriarch, is a rich widow with high standards who would stop at nothing to get what’s best for her family. Nikolai (Mikael Daez), her youngest son, has grown into a rebellious man after causing a traumatic family accident which led to the death of his father.
Stefano (Tom Rodriguez), the favorite son, is a family-oriented architect who fathers the child of Kelly (Rhian Ramos), his former lover who holds a vengeful heart due to what she has been through in the name of love.
When Stefano crosses paths with Adelle (Carla Abellana), a widow with a child who manages her own handicraft business, things begin to get better. Amidst Isabella’s objection towards their relationship, Stefano and Adelle strive to build a normal family. Their seemingly perfect life crumbles not only when Kelly barges into the picture along with the estranged Nikolai, but also when Stefano gets diagnosed with a terminal illness.
