ABS-CBN temporarily suspends the staging of live entertainment shows and tapings of teleseryes starting Sunday, March 15, 2020.
This follows the pronouncement of President Rodrigo Duterte's community quarantine and ban on mass gatherings in Metro Manila because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ABS-CBN announced this through a statement issued on the night of March 13.
In place of regular programs, the Kapamilya network says that it will continue serving its audience by "bringing back well-loved shows to help provide inspiration, hope, and upliftment."
However, the statement clarifies that the Kapamilya network will continue to do TV and radio newscasts.
ABS-CBN's statement reads:
"ABS-CBN is temporarily suspending the staging of its live entertainment shows and production of its teleseryes starting Sunday (March 15) in compliance with the government’s declaration of a community quarantine and ban on mass gatherings to contain the spread of COVID-19.
"The company is taking this initiative for the safety and health of our artists, crew, production teams, their families, and the general public.
"While this measure is in place, ABS-CBN will continue to serve our audiences by bringing back well-loved shows to help provide inspiration, hope, and upliftment.
"We assure the public that ABS-CBN will continue to bring the latest news and information through our TV and radio newscasts and digital platforms, especially at this time when the country is facing a public health crisis.
"We thank our Kapamilya viewers for their understanding and continued support."
Earlier today, Vice Ganda announced that the pilot episode of his upcoming game show, Everbody, Sing!, has been postponed.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) also reported, through its PEP Troika column, that ASAP Natin 'To will air replays until April 12.
ABS-CBN has yet to announce if the pilot episode of its upcoming afternoon series, Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, will push through on March 23.
Starring Maricel Soriano, Iza Calzado, Sam Milby, and Jodi Sta. Maria, the teleserye is scheduled to replace Sandugo, which is airing its finale this week.
