GMA-7 and ABS-CBN are both airing their own, network-produced documentaries about the COVID-19 pandemic this weekend.
Their special documentaries will temporarily take over the timeslots of the reruns that are being aired.
GMA-7 COVID-19 DOCUMENTARIES
On Saturday, April 25, the Kapuso network's news and public affairs will air a back-to-back special on Born To Be Wild and Reporter's Notebook.
The former, a travelogue show, will feature "Vets on Call: Enchanced Community Quarantine," where hosts Doc Ferds Recio and Doc Nielsen Donato help rescue pets in the time of COVID-19.
It will be aired at 3:25 p.m., taking the timeslot of Marian Rivera's drama anthology program, Tadhana.
This will be followed by GMA-7's Reporter's Notebook, which will give the viewers snippets of frontliners's day-to-day life in a medical facility in Metro Manila.
Titled "COVID-19: The Unseen," reporter Jun Veneracion talks to Nurse Ninia, a health worker in charge of testing suspected COVID-19 patients.
Ninia and her husband, who is also a nurse, have one child.
Maki Pulido's documentary looks into the families of those who died from the virus before they even got tested or found out the results.
The Reporter's Notebook special will air at 4:05 p.m., and will take the timeslot of Vicky Morales's Ilaban Natin 'Yan.
ABS-CBN COVID-19 DOCUMENTARY
On Sunday, April 26, ABS-CBN's DocuCentral presents Heroes in the Hot Zone, which is helmed by documentarist Raphael Bosano.
It shows the struggles of doctors, including the scene inside a triage tent where the patients are being tested.
It also retells the sad story of a doctor who, after serving on the front line, succumbed to the illness.
Lastly, Raphael interviews another doctor, who is currently recovering from the virus.
The documentary will air at 9:00 p.m., temporarily taking the timeslot of Pilipinas Got Talent rerun.
