Angelu de Leon admitted that she had quite an attitude, which she described as being maldita, during her early days in showbiz.
That was the time she was part of the iconic youth-oriented series TGIS, where she played Ma. Patrice “Peachy” Real, one of the lead roles.
In her PEPLive interview on June 9, 2020, Angelu shared how her kamalditahan manifested when TGIS director Mark Reyes would scold the cast for bungling blockings and their lines.
Laughing, she said, “’I remember, dahil nga maldits pa ako noon, ang lagi kong sinasabi, ‘Why am I here? I didn’t do anything wrong naman.’”
Ganun! Para kaming nasa bootcamp!"
Angelu was one of the original cast members of TGIS when the show aired in 1995.
She and Bobby Andrews were paired in the show. Their co-stars were Red Sternberg, Raven Villanueva, and Michael Flores.
A year later, in 1996, Onemig Bondoc, Rica Peralejo, and Ciara Sotto joined the cast.
Their stint in TGIS lasted until June 1997. In the same month, the entire batch was transferred to TGIS’ spin-off prime-time program called Growing Up.
In 1998, Angelu left the show because she got pregnant.
ANGELU'S ONE AND ONLY "PASAWAY" MOMENT
When Angelu was asked during the PEP Challenge whether there ever was a time she became a “pasaway” on the set of a show, the 40-year-old actress remembered the one and only instance she got a show's producer on tenterhooks.
She then said, laughing, “Manlalaglag ako dito ng mga tao.
Angelu then narrated an incident on the set of the 2002 GMA-7 drama series, Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga.
The teleserye also starred Cheska Garcia, Maricar de Mesa, Tanya Garcia, and Bobby Andrews, who all were involved in Angelu's narration.
She recounted, “I remember one time, it was Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga and, siyempre, dati wala namang cut-off noon so talagang basta hangga’t may kukunan, kukunan.
“E, meron kaming eksena, nasa Commonwealth kami.
But Angelu did decide to give in to the request of her colleagues in the show.
She went home instead of going back to the set after her event.
The trouble was, she did not inform the show's producer, Helen Rose Sese.
Years later, Angelu and Helen would work again in several shows of GMA-7.
Angelu saw this as a chance to “redeem” herself from what happened!
I had to redeem myself!”
