The stage is set for the much-awaited yearly battle of Christmas station IDs.
Both ABS-CBN and GMA-7 have been airing short teasers on their respective platforms over the past few days.
ABS-CBN’S 2020 CHRISTMAS STATION ID
On Friday, November 6, 2020, ABS-CBN released a first look at its Christmas station ID, which has the theme “Ikaw Ang Liwanag at Ligaya,” this 2020.
The title card of the station ID bears the colors of ABS-CBN: blue, red, and green.
A star is also lit up, radiating the ABS-CBN logo.
This marks the first Christmas station ID of ABS-CBN without a broadcast franchise. It may be recalled that the network's application for a fresh franchise was denied by Congress on July 10, 2020, forcing the Kapamilya network to shut down and retrench thousands of its workers.
Since then, TV shows of ABS-CBN have been airing on the cable channel Kapamilya Channel and online platform Kapamilya Online Live.
ABS-CBN also has a deal with Zoe Broadcasting Network, Inc. for a blocktime arrangement on the free TV channel A2Z Channel 11.
GMA-7’S 2020 CHRISTMAS STATION ID
Since Monday, November 9, GMA-7 has been airing short video teasers of its Christmas station ID for 2020.
The video features a huge pink heart and the hands holding the heart, together with the message, “Ipakita ang pagmamahalang totoo.”
Today, November 10, GMA-7 posted a photo of a white grand piano with a lit pink heart on top of it.
Lit Christmas trees and small blue and pink hearts also surround the piano.
The text in the photo reads: “Muling babangon ang pusong humaharap sa hamon.”
Both ABS-CBN and GMA-7 have yet to reveal the launch date of their respective Christmas station IDs.
TV5, which just returned to the entertainment arena with its string of programs from blocktimers, has yet to reveal if they will produce a station ID this 2020.
