Sa kanyang 12 years sa GMA-7, first time ni Mikael Daez na mag-host ng isang full-length show, ang The Best Ka!.
Pahayag ni Mikael sa Zoom mediacon ng The Best Ka! noong Martes, February 15, 2022, hindi raw niya agad na-realize ito.
Maraming beses na kasi siyang naging host, pero lahat ay sa isang segment lamang ng iba't ibang programa ng GMA, gaya ng "Midnight Express" sa Saksi.
“Well, I guess first nagulat ako at si Megan,” pagtukoy ni Mikael sa asawa niyang si Megan Young, “And I think a lot of other people kasi, hindi ko naman iniisip, ‘Ah okay, wala pa akong [full-length] show.’
“Iniisip ko lagi, I host, I work, I’ve hosted a lot of live events, SAKSI was running half a decade. So na-realize lang namin, parang may nakabanggit lang sa amin na, ‘Uy, first full show mo ito, ha?’
“Sabi ko, ‘Ha? Oo nga, ‘no?’"
Masaya si Mikael na nabigyan siya ng ganitong pagkakataong, “So natuwa ako, pero yes I think every project naman sa GMA is a blessing. Kasi pinagkakatiwala ng GMA sa akin at kung sino yung mga kasama ko and yung buong crew and the director, na ’Okay, sa inyo ito, make this your own, and make us proud.’
“So I guess iyon yung nasa isip ko, just make the most out of this and give it your best and enjoy.”
Huling napanood si Mikael sa Love Of My Life na umere sa GMA-7 simula noong February 2020 at nagtapos noong March 2021. Pansamantalang nahinto ang show dahil sa Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) dulot ng COVID-19 pandemic.
Hindi naman raw siya nagkaroon ng pagtatanong sa isip niya kung bakit medyo matagal siyang walang show sa GMA.
“No, wala naman. I think on me and Megan’s part, natakot din kami kasi dun sa pandemic. Alam naman natin, health and safety protocols 'tapos hindi natin alam kung anong mangyayari.
“Andami ring natengga, andaming natenggang mga shows because of different external factors. So para sa akin, it’s just understanding kung ano yung sitwasyon.
“And now that the past is behind us, we just look forward to the future. So andito tayo ngayon, we have The Best Ka!
"I’m enjoying, I just saw the full trailer and mas na-excite pa ako. So I’m really, really excited!”
Sa una at pangalawang episodes ng The Best Ka!, makakasama ni Mikael bilang guest co-host ang misis niyang Miss World 2013 na si Megan. Ang show ay sa direksiyon ni Tata Betita.
Mga best ng Guinness Book of World Records ang mapapanood sa The Best Ka! sa GMA-7 simula sa darating na Linggo, February 20, 2022, 3:50 pm.

Dahil unang full-length show ni Mikael ang The Best Ka!, may nararamdaman ba siyang pressure o challenge na siyang mag-isa ang magdadala ng show?
“Well, I guess… wow masasabi ko ngang may pagka-veteran vibes na ako ‘no, twelve years sa GMA,” natatawang sagot ni Mikael.
“I’ve been in GMA for twelve years, I’ve done at least a show or two every year. So para sa akin I think there always is pressure, may pressure naman lagi.
“Pero ang mas importante ay maibigay mo lahat at mag-enjoy ka. So yung dalawang bagay na yun. So ibigay mo lahat, prepare well.
"If you have a script, read your script. If you have objectives, understand the objectives. Pero, at the same time, enjoy-in mo pag andun ka na.
“So once you have those two things, the rest will play out kasi hindi natin alam. Minsan you give your best and then yung expectations mo hindi siya nami-meet, di ba?
"Pero one thing you can control is you give it your all, and you should be happy with the blessings that follow after that."
Banggit pa ni Mikael, karamihan sa production people ng The Best Ka! ay dati na niyang nakatrabaho sa Ismol Family, ang GMA comedy show nila nina Ryan Agoncillo, Carla Abellana, Miguel Tanfelix, at Bianca Umali noong 2014.
“Solo akong nagho-host, pero I feel very connected to the team.
“So para sa akin I never think na ako lang ‘to, I’m thinking, hindi! Team effort ‘to. Sinusuportahan ako."
Kuwento pa ni Mikael, “On our first taping day you could see everybody was supporting one another. From the audioman, na napakaganda ng audio namin, considering dun mismo nung nagte-tape kami medyo challenging yung atmosphere kasi ma-echo dun sa venue.
“So para sa akin, when you think of it as team effort, mas gumagaan kasi suportado ka ng maraming tao."
