Eight months since her transfer from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN, Lovi Poe said it didn't take long before she got used to working with new colleagues, especially on the set of her upcoming series Flower of Evil.
Lovi was a Kapuso for 15 years before she transferred to ABS-CBN on September 16, 2021.
"Transition is always tough, pero everyone here sa set, naramdaman ko talaga yung effort nila to make me feel at home," Lovi told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
She continued, "Because it's like everything's new, everyone around me is new.
"Naramdaman siguro nila na medyo nahihiya ako. Nararamdaman ko talaga yung effort nila to make me feel better.
"As time went by, I'm suddenly myself. One morning, I'm myself around everybody.
"I'm surrounded by people who want to see me do well, and I'm just so grateful for that."
Lovi recalled how the production people helped her ease into her character at the start of their taping.
"No, kasi grabe talaga yung first three days. 'Lord, help me,' ganung level.
"Pero thank you guys kasi di sila nag-give up sa akin."
Lovi, 33, is starring opposite Piolo Pascual, 45, in Flower of Evil, an adaptation of the Korean suspense-drama series about a couple whose married life will be put to the test when the detective wife starts to unravel dark secrets from her husband's past.
PEP.ph interviewed Lovi at the virtual unveiling of the poster for Flower of Evil last May 23, 2022.
PIOLO ON LOVI'S PASSION FOR ACTING
Piolo, who was with Lovi at the mediacon, was all praises of the work she puts in for the love of her craft.
The actor said, "One thing I really appreciate about her is her commitment to her work. The way she approaches her work, may passion siya, di siya napapagod.
"It's just so nice to see her devote her whole self into this project. You kinda gravitate towards that.
"Every day is such a beautiful way to experience new things with her, especially when she gets into her character na napaka-multilayer, which is very hard.
"Makikita niyo magta-transcend siya onscreen."
He also admires Lovi for always being put-together "kahit puyat" and even after a tiring "workout."
"I've been around for quite some time, but the way I feel and the way I'm with her, parang we've known each other for a while.
"It's easy to get drowned in this business, but Lovi is very humble," Piolo added.
WHAT LOVI APPRECIATES ABOUT PIOLO
Lovi, for her part, thinks Piolo is very disciplined at work.
She said, "The moment he wakes up in the morning, he knows exactly what to do, he sets his mind to taking care of himself.
"When he gets on the set, he's always prepared. The emotions that he gives me in every scene, hindi ko na kailangang maghanap sa iba.
"All I have to do is look into his eyes, nadadala na ako, which is very good. Gift iyon sa isang actor, mabilis siyang makaramdam ng emotions.
"Yung character kasi ni Piolo here, he doesn't really show much emotions. And naging challenge iyon for him."
Asked if they feel nervous about measuring up to the success of the original version of Flower of Evil, Lovi said, "The pressure naman is always good because with that pressure we create something beautiful.
"I'm just so excited to see everything na nagawa namin. Napakaganda talaga lalo na nilagyan ng pusong Pilipino itong Flower of Evil."
